One company I work for does not require mask wearing any more. The other does, even behind the newly installed plexiglass. I would prefer not to wear one. I am surprised that I am seeing people wearing masks in town-in the beginning there was so much resistence to it I wonder what changed some people's minds.

I'm still masking despite having had both shots - doesn't hurt any, don't want to spread it if I get it.

Yeah, I've been masking up "in public" all along. Grocery store, gas stations, what have you.

Yeah, I never stopped masking in public places.

My wife has to go back to work next week, but her plan is to close the door and ignore everyone if at all possible. And, of course, mask up.

Was going to go to an indoor model kit show today (contest/flea market). Nah. Next year.
Plumber came over to fix a faucet, said he was vaxxed, but policy was to mask for customer comfort, but if I was vaxxed he was fine with me unmasking. I eventually did, 'cause we got into a long conversation about guns & shooting.
Furnace guys came for the yearly cleaning, said they were all vaxxed. Fuck it, I hung out a BSed with them in the cellar barefaced.
Might go to an airshow next month. I figure outdoors, I'll wear the mask when I get there and see what everybody else is doing.

Even if you are infected by delta, the odds of getting more than the sniffles are less than stabbing yourself with an exacto.

Just don't sign up for the Olympics.

Memo went out yesterday. All City buildings and employees are mask mandatory at 0800 Monday morning. Business is by appointment only. I'm waiting on the Presiding Circuit Judge to decide what we'll do about Court.

I went to the grocery store yesterday and I was literally the only person not wearing a mask. I was drawing stares. When I saw people masked up in the parking lot, I looked every carefully at the doors for a sign. By the end of the trip, I was wondering if I had somehow missed a new mandate.

Y'ever been using an X-acto with a straightedge, cutting something like foam core, and the blade rides up over the straightedge and right over your finger(s)? Good times, good times . . .

I sliced the tip of my finger off once with an Xacto, it was the very tip. A little smaller than the the width of a pencil eraser. I put it back on with some medical tape and bandages. It healed, except that of you look at my fingertip with a magnifying glass, the fingerprints don't line up. They're off almost 180 degrees.

My favorite was when the knife rolled off the desk and I reflexively tried to catch it by clamping my legs together. Missed the artery, but it was still sticking out like in Young Frankenstein.

When I rook a technical drawing (architectural) class, we used technical pens in the class. The pens were in different sizes, and the tips were small tubes with needle like wire that went inside the tubes. One guy in the class dropped the smallest diameter pen, and he tried to catch it. It stabbed in the palm, he wound up giving himself a small tattoo of a dot on his palm. I was only the person in the class to see him do it. It was funny as hell watching him try to rub the dot off his hand. He must have spent at least 20 minutes or so trying to get rid of it. Ahhh..... good times.

I stuck my middle finger in a saber saw in 8th grade shop class. Just a scratch that damaged the nail, but didn't even need stitches. I still wonder to this day why anyone would ever think that forcing everyone to take shop class was a good idea... :brood:

As someone who was a machinist for 10+ years, I can give you an example. There's a whole lotta machines out there that I wouldn't know how to fix if it weren't for my machinist training. Yeah, I know, not everybody needs to know how a hootermaramis for a framis device works. At the same time, however, thanks to my machinist training, I can quickly figure out how handle a machine with a problem that I've never encountered before.

In 4th grade the teacher gave me the task of refilling the stapler. so I put the staples in and closed the stapler with my thumb where the stapler comes out pushing real hard. Went right through the thumb like butter.

Then there was camp where we made caramel. My smart ass decide it would be really cool to go get an early taste so I went in and stuck my index finger into the extremely hot caramel that had not cooled. You know that shit doesn't just come off, so I burned a bit of my tongue. The blister on my index finger tip was bigger than my finger from the first knuckle on. The kids called me ET for a while because they all saw it.

Then there was the time I was working with a hot glue gun and was pushing the glue stick into the back while there was a bit of a glue stick in it because I wanted to start the next glue stick off. When you do that the glue just comes out of the front onto your leg if it is underneath.

Then there was the time at work when I was breaking down boxes in the stock room and ran the box cutter razor blade across my palm. I could have sworn I cut myself on the palm, but I clamped my hand shut for about 15 minutes with the other hand and when I opened it there did not seem to be any wound. I may have been wrong about that one.

Then there was the time at the same store where they had these cheepo cardboard boxes with staples on the sides holding the flaps shut. So I realised in you just sort of wacked the area with your knuckles like you had cat paws with claws by bending your fingers under you could rip the cardboard real easy and collapse the box. So I lined up the boxes and was doing it a bunch of times not really paying attention and the staples ripped my knuckles to shreds and i noticed because i started leaving blood streaks after a certain number of boxes.

Then there was the time I was cooking and fumbled a really sharp steak knife and tried to catch it on the blade before it hit my leg. I do not know how that shit did not cut me.

Then there was the time i was cutting limbs off a branch with a machete and I whacked my thumb from knuckle to nail. It was a light hit, but I still had to get stitches.

Then there was the time I shot myself in the hand while cleaning my smart parts paintball gun barrel during a game.

    I could go on.

The initial pain of the wound has never been as bad as the healing in my experience. There is the mental idea of Oh shit i hurt myself, but unless it is a heat burn or a blunt force impact the pain is not so bad. When I whacked my thumb with the machete or sliced myself the initial pain was not bad. Even piercing the ears was not bad getting through the skin. It is the bruise, scab area, or burn area that was really painful later. The back of my thumb with the machete barely hurt at all for all the time I had it and the stitches. Slices just feel really weird but if you clamp them shut real quick they are free of pain if they do not get an infection.

The CEO got on a live webcast Thursday to tell us the quarterly news

He also said all employees would have to be vaccinated to come to the office starting Monday.

Hilarity ensued. No written policy was produced. No one knows wtf is happening.

My guess is the corporate lawyers and accountants are working overtime to figure out where the biggest liability lies.

Oh and CNN fired employees for coming to work without vaccinations.
