Left says "I think we should have a generous posture toward refugees" and the right says "You're wrong" because that position isn't one that can be rationally characterized as evil.

Right says "If refugees come here with their kids they are criminals who deserve to have their kids taken away and locked in cages and potentially not returned to them for years while the parents are sent to federal prison...they bring it on themselves" and the left says "that's evil" because...well...the math is obvious.

Stop holding evil positions and you won't hear that so often. They aren't saying "evil" about tariff policy and shit like that.

It can actually be dangerous to maintain friendships with conservative republicans as a person who might have diverse groups of friends. I have had friends threatened with being fired for associating with me outside of work. I have watched people with black and brown friends and sexual relations get passed over. That is not to mention the social pressure put on family members at church to get their relatives to conform to the proper conservative values.

Conservatives often use social pressure as a weapon and force others to conform to their values in order to remain connected to a group. They use weapons such as exile and disowning family members to force conformity to their demands. Liberals are liberal and you cannot maintain liberal ideals like acceptance while hanging around with a bunch of people who run off those who they dislike.

So when you come across republicans who would disrespect your friends or you because of their skin color, , gender identity, religion, nationality, sexuality, or whatever you either give up all that diversity or you let the Republican go their way because they are incompatible with everyone else. For instance I hang out with a lot of black people and I am not dragging around any friends with the traitorous southern swastika flag. It is a representation of slavery and racism. If you need to fly that shit I don't have time for you. There are millions of people I will never meet in this world. I am sure there are a bunch of them who are cool. I don't need to waste time on someone who clearly advertisises incompatibility with my values.

I have also extended that to people who like Trump. If you are not disgusted by twitler's behavior at this poind then you can go to the back of the line.
