yes but one caveat to this, the greed-driven mindset is almost as old as the country, but this PARTICULAR stream of pseudo-conservatism goes back to Bill Buckley and Brent Bozell in the 50's. The white bigot blowback to desegregation open them an opportunity to take over the GOP in the 70's and they've never looked back.

probably so, Chang lived entirely within the right wing Christian Supremacist echo chamber.

Not every conservative view IS evil, not even close to most of them really (although most of them are (presumably unintentionally) heartless)

    But some of them are.
The one being executed on the southern border, right now, for example.

While I avoid politics on FB, recent events have compelled me to vocally speak up in opposition to the Republican government's abuse of children for political ends. I don't believe that opposing child abuse should be controversial or partisan. However the backlash of conservatives to this opposition has been both dissappointing and yet not unexpected.

Reminded me of this thread. If not wanting to hang out with people who believe that their government's abuse of children for political ends is acceptable policy makes me closed minded... so be it.

Yep, both sides have pretty much been conditioned to believe the other is not just wrong but intentionally out to do evil in the world.

I'll stop believing it when Republicans get their boot off the necks of the poor, minorities, and the lower middle class.
When there's a version of Republicans that can manage to leave everyone the fuck alone, everything will be hunky-dory.
