Bumped the rear bumper of an old womans car during a traffic jam at 5 mph (at most). I gestured for her to pull over to the shoulder and then I decided to not bother with stopping and kept going. I joked that I took advantage of Arkansas's "Move It" Law that said if you were in an accident, no one was injured and both cars were driveable you were to move the vehicles to a safe place. My safe place being Texas (we lived there about four years).

Note, this was in 2002. Fifteen years ago.

Faceman enjoys pretending that the woman suffered a physical injury because he and others of his ilk take great delight in casting anything I've ever done wrong in the worst possible light.

Even if there was no damage, it's still a hit and run. And you still don't seem sorry about it.

Why would I worry about a minor incident from a decade and a half ago?

So, 15 years ago was just a time your life where committing crimes against women was a phase for you? You equate smacking your wife and rear ending an old lady a hit and run as minor and no big deal.

Dayton rear ended her car and after he signaled the lady to pull over, he zipped past her and kept going. Then he stupidly thought he'd get cool points by bragging about his cleverness here of all places.

Fuck you. I've gotten out to check a tap on someone's rear end at 5 MPH before. There was no damage, so we were basically :clyde: and moved on.

    Hmm, now it's a 5mph traffic jam...

How exactly does someone stop short when you are barely moving in a traffic jam?

Regardless, still misses the point that the reason Dayton gets called out isn't so much for the original incident but posts like this:

Not paying attention while in traffic and dents someone elses car. Who cares, Dayton has a drive to worry about!

    Exactly.

As you well know, I've been on record for years having utter disdain for people who go crazy about a slight dent or scratch on their vehicle.

I've had people ding a vehicle of mine when it was still brand new and I didn't get all worked up.

    It is at that speed.

You're a computer expert are you not Ed?

A computer expert should be able to understand basic physics.

If you like I can scan the appropriate page out of our science textbook and send you.

Or hook you up with a website that explains the same.

    Your choice.

Ok moron, apparently you're shitty science "teacher" as well as being clueless with a computer since you can't understand a 5mph impact has a large energy transfer. The equation is pretty easy, F=m*a^2, so a 2 ton vehicle, at 5mph causes an energy transfer of 4055 newtons, which comes out to 912 pound feet of force. That's nearly half a ton of energy transfer, in what deluded, autism addled world do you live in where you can actually say that much energy transfer is the same thing as a ding?

That comes out to about 8 pound feet of force, or 112 times less impact force than a "minor" impact according to "Dayton".

Once again, the computer "expert" omits mass from his calculations.

Also, omits the fact that unlike a scratched car door, my incident was straight up bumper to bumper contact.

You know "bumpers". Those structural features on the fore and aft of vehicles SPECIFICALLY DESIGNED to absorb and dissipate exactly those types of impacts without damage.

And my vehicle at that time massed 3200 lbs. Not 4,000 as your calculation was based on.

    Try again "expert".

Well shit, you said truck, I used an estimate of the weight of a truck. Depending on the truck, they can weigh from 3,000 to 7,000 pounds or more. So a 4,000 pound weight was an average guess.

At that weight, it's a 730 pound foot transfer.

I remembered my truck massed 3,200 lbs. because of a discussion my dad and I had about the changes in pickup design over the years. He had one made back in the mid 1960s that massed 5,400 lbs. while the one I'm referring to was built in the mid 1990s.

We talked about changes that led to such a significant reduction in the weight of vehicles and how it no doubt improved gas mileage.

Also, when there is a collision between a truck and car, there are bumper height mismatches. The truck will generally have a higher bumper height than a truck. Bumpers are made to absorb impact damage, that energy doesn't just disappear. It has to go somewhere, which means that just because you can't see it, there can still be damage to the car.
