Don’t do that. You spoke of the church coming into power when a government fell. I said, in the current era, it wouldn’t be a church to fill that vacuum, but a corporation. Agree or disagree, fine. But don’t use my response to justify Blackwater, Halliburton, or any other jackboot agency taking over. that is not the point of my response and you know it.
He didn't. Not even close, as any serious reading of his post will show you. He was agreeing with you.
SPD fucked themselves last night. 4 City Councilmembers were in the peaceful crowd attacked by SPD. Another was out of town but had staff there. A sixth has already called for the mayor to resign. Here is one of the Councilmembers (one of 2 of the At Large members) saying expect a council resolution Monday on the mayor’s resignation. It takes 6 (of 9) Councilmembers to remove the mayor.
If this happens it would be a historic day, not just for police/government accountability but for women’s equality. A majority women City Council voting to remove a woman Mayor. Way to make history Mayor Durkan!
Let's see... peaceful marches in NYC yesterday, while Seattle PD went Chicago '68 on its citizens. Interesting.
That is one of the most shameful articles I have read during this entire period. It's not that I wouldn't have thought police were thinking that kind of thing, but the brazen way in which he says it explicitly shows he does not think he is in any way accountable to the people. That guy should not just be fired, but be prohibited from ever again serving in a police force of any kind, in my opinion.
OK, my bad. I didn't see who wrote it. Yes, I know The Onion. As long as I've been on Wordforge, I've read a lot of stuff from it. Almost always good. This time I just wasn't paying attention... I will go hide in my room, and hang my head in shame now.
it is a rather classic trope... ...And they was usin' up all kinds of cop equipment that they had hangin' Around the Police Officer Station. They was takin' plaster tire tracks, Footprints, dog-smellin' prints and they took twenty-seven 8 x 10 colored Glossy photographs with circles and arrows and a paragraph on the back of Each one explainin' what each one was, to be used as evidence against us Took pictures of the approach, the getaway, the northwest corner, the Southwest corner And that's not to mention the aerial photography!
"But you can get anything you want at Alice's Restaurant..." I wouldn't be surprised if Arlo slipped a line about aerial photography into the song next time. Some things never change.
Whilst seconding the observations already made that "The Onion" is satire, I would like to suggest that any police officer who is fired due to their conduct on duty should be barred permanently from serving in law enforcement. The idea that someone can lose their position due to inappropriate behaviour in such a role but still be eligible for employment elsewhere in the force (or any other) seems to me to incentivise (or at least undermine the disincentive to) criminal behaviour in uniform.
I think you meant "paradise," and that's certainly how @Ancalagon has been portraying it all these years. But now you've hurt his widdle feewings by not subscribing to his worldview.
