I still have no idea what a liberal parade is.

But if you think I don’t think Seattle has issues then you haven’t been paying attention. There is a reason I have cofounded and sit on the board of orgs dedicated to improve Seattle, regularly testify in front of council and other bodies and attend protests (which I have posted on WF).

Yes, I do regularly post stuff about our economy in a thread about how Seattle is ruining said economy but that doesn’t mean I don’t think the city has huge room for improvement.

Constantly defending one thing, automatically means, according to sone on this board, that you are defending ALL of it. Whatever “it” is.

    Not really.

Those black people wouldn't have to take up arms against armed right wing militias if those militias weren't enabled by the 2A in the first place.

And let's not forget that the NRA was a "sportsmen's club" until the Black Panthers started showing up at polling places.

Pretty sure that, because we only have one tweet, that the entire city council made the decision without a plan.

    It's a state-by-state thing. Some have, some haven't.

And I'm wondering whether, even in the states that repealed it, there are still people serving time under the old laws.

They aren't taking up arms against right wing militias they are taking up arms to defend themselves against anybody who could harm them in their neighborhoods. Fuck as smart as you are you sure miss the point a lot!

the three strikes law is state, not federal. Thus some states have it, some don't.

It's very simple. You have an armed populace, something largely anomalous in the civilised world. You have a police force who have to, yup, police said armed populace.

The police therefore arm themselves to deal with the perceived threat. The population arm themselves further because being able to resist an armed oppressor is what the 2A is suppose to be all about in spirit and practise. The police therefore acquire military style vehicles and employ SWAT teams.

The end result is you have an arm race between an increasingly paranoid population and a police force who act like a domestic military rather than servants of the public. Throw racial tensions, social inequality and all those other goodies into the mix and when it inevitably goes south (which it absolutely has done) this is the result. You have untrained amateurs patrolling around with guns like it's the wild west while the police fight the very people they're supposed to protect AND IDIOTS WHO THINK THIS IS A GOOD THING.

that's life in the big city! But again you are slightly confused. Most police forces arm themselves with better weapons because many criminals arm themselves with better weapons, not because of armed militias. Agree they can drop the military hardware because so far (in the U.S. anyway) criminal gangs aren't using military grade equipment too often. South America & Mexico some of those criminal gangs are indeed using military grade stuff on occasion.

So there's a third group arming themselves and competing with the other two.

When is it going to sink in that this hasn't worked?

when Biden is elected and everyone lays down their weapons and sings Kumbaya! Trump started this whole arms race - I figured you knew that.
So basically about six months or so.

You're going to word police when only 10% of certain groups can barely string a sentence together? Really?
