I like John Edwards. I liked him better than John Kerry. He's more moderate and far less polarizing than Hillary.

    I'd vote for him. :techman:

And he made the announcement at the scene of one of the biggest Democrat failures of all time.

    How ironic.

Ya know if some white guy with a shiny shovel came down to my ravaged city to exploit my tragedy for his political ambitions, I'd tell him where to stick that shovel.

Oh well, it's not the first time they've welcomed a carpet bagger.

Edwards doesn't qualify as a carpet bagger. He's from the South and he's not buying up Southern property for pennies on the dollar.

Now Kerry, on the other hand... ;)

Even if I wanted to vote for him, the fact that he's already run for national office disqualifies me from voting for him, according to my rule :marathon:

If Republicans pick someone from this administraton, like Rice, and the Democrats rehash 2000 or 2004 personalities again, then yes, that's quite possible :marathon:

I'd lend him a hand and shove it there for him.

But if I was a Dem, I would go with him any old day before I went with Queen Hillary.

I made the prediction in 04 that he would be the Poodle's running mate and that might win it for the Democrats. He does have the looks and some charm (unlike John Fucking Kerry). He just talks like a goddamn lawyer everytime he opens his mouth.

You do know that Ray Nagin was a devoted Republican before he switched parties to run for mayor, right?

But yeah, let's pretend the national Democratic Party has powers akin to the old Communist Party in the USSR. That makes for a much better story than Louisiana being a failure of a state on every level, and the sloth, corruption, and overall ineptitude on both sides being a such a large problem...

Does Senator really count though? He only truly represents his state's interests, everything else is just support and prestige.

Ah, time to get the republican dirt machine going. What's it gonna be, Swifties, an intern or will there be a new idea? Baby raping maybe? Will have to be at least a murder for each candidate.

Isn't Karl Rove leaving once Bush goes, or did he find a cave in Washington to hide and feed his brood?

Don't confuse the lack of results with an unwillingness to try to get those results. It's just like with most everything else, the Democrats are generally inept. :(

Met the guy (and didn't meet Polarslam, who was way off when he said Edwards was gonna be there...snort) - Edwards was the first politician who, when confronted with a tough question, wasn't afraid to say, "You know, I don't know the answer to that, but I'm going to check up on it." And did.

Don't think he can take out Hillary in the primaries, though. Seems unlikely. Karl Rove himself is utterly terrified of the Clinton Campaign Machine, which is not only very capable but also has more financing than just about anyone - which is critical. So while Edwards would make a good Prez, given that he's going up against Hillary and possibly Obama makes it a tough uphill fight for him.

Once Bush goes it's over anyway.
