First they remove the mention of God and Pro-Israel remarks from their platform, then after hearing criticism of that decision they put the remarks back only to have Dems on the floor get caught on video booing and hissing at the decision to return the God and Israel remarks... http://www.realclearpolitics.com/video/2012/09/05/jerusalem_and_god_get_booed_at_dem_convention.html Now they have pissed off Christians.Jews,Muslims and Atheists.
I can't help but notice the large number of democratic aspirants for public office who decided to skip their own convention. Guess they didn't want too many people in their districts seeing them throwing their support for Obama.
You know, I know quite a few God fearing Democrats that would have been offended by the omission. Some here seem to think all the dems are are non believers which is a load of horseshit. I must admit I was kind of hoping for a repeat of '68.
Too bad they put God back, I was ready to give them some respect for separating religion from politics.
So Jesus hung out with the 13th tribe of Israel in the US and then went back to Kolob to be with his dad? I mean I like BSG too, but it isn't really a great worldview.
Word on the street is that everybody's drunk at these things by 2:00. She just can't handle the booze.
Looks like Obama intervened because of his personal views: An Obama campaign official told The Cable late Wednesday that the change in platform was made to reflect the personal views of Obama, who believes that Jerusalem is the capital of Israel and who "personally intervened" to ask for the platform change. Who would have thought Obama is a fundie? I guess the Democrats are just better at hiding the religious wing of their party.
Well he is a Christian despite the constant yelling from the right about him being a secular Muslim atheist radical.
Maybe we're looking more at the candidates' values, and Mitt Romney and Gary Johnson have more values in their pinky toes than the Obama has in his whole body.
What Romney values? Giving tax cuts to billionaires or constantly changing his positions on several issues? He flip-flops so much he makes Kerry in 04 look stubborn.
What? Constantly changing your mind to suit the whims of the radicals who have your party by the scrotum constitues "values" to you?
Gotta disagree. That was significantly mishandled. I don't think its the shot across the bow that was the Libertarian wing of the Republicans getting totally disrespected by their leadership and changing the very bylaws of their organization after the fact, but its a significant issue that could cause people not to vote for the Dems. Its sure as hell a significant soundbite for the propaganda machine.
Ridiculous. Its not a question of never changing your position. Its a question of doing it so often people can paint you as having no guiding principles in the first place. Romney is in that territory - indeed, that was one of the significant criticisms of him in his party's own primaries.
Muad pretends to be non-partisan, but really isn't. Especially when it comes to picking between two white candidates or a black candidate.
mlong's Mom won't let him use the "F-word." Then he'll blame you for "playing the race card." The truth is, they're waffling. All summer long they've been insisting they won't vote for Romney, but as November 6th looms, they're panicking. They still can't find a single thing they actually like about Romney, and a few of them will stay true to their word and vote for someone else or just sit home, but in the meantime they'll deflect any "So what's good about Romney?" with "At least he's not Obama" because it's really all they've got.
That's but one of the reasons I hope Obama loses. I'm tired of seeing that worn out old card get played.
