I'll read this in more detail when I get back from my docxtor's appt. this evening...but, just an interestimg aside...

Most laymen aren't aware that we ARE IN AN ICE IGE RIGHT NOW.

What it often called the "last Ice Age" is really just the last glaciasl period of THIS ice age. The period we are in now is an "interglacial' - a period within the greater (current) ice age of glacial retreat. A cycle within a cycle.

    Wheels within wheels.

But that retreat is happening faster than climate, models (sans human contribution) predict it should be.

I've heard so many times that in the 1970s, there was widespread panic about global cooling, new ice age, blah blah blah. That it was the scientific consensus and everything.

Is there actually any evidence of this other than that one Newsweek story that gets brought up every time? :wtf:

Sagan put it in his Cosmos series. I saw him talking about it the other night.

And? The original article doesn't attempt to debunk global warming, and the response from Tapping doesn't suggest global cooling due to relative lack of Sol activity can't happen.

But what I would really like to see is the e-mail sent to Tapping from the mysterious tgirsch of www.leanleft.com. :chris:

They're doing a thing on the History Channel on the Little Ice Age that, if 10% of it is accurate, pretty much stomps huge, gaping holes in the whole Global Warming theory.

Wow. I didn't expect you to weasel out like that. Guess I should have seen it coming. Just to recap, this:

    Totally false.

Tapping is part of the consensus on global warming and he's not claiming anything about a "new ice age". There's a reason this story got buried as an editorial.

If you'd like to check with him yourself Tapping's email is ken.tapping@nrc-cnrc.gc.ca.

You mean Dr. Patterson, another scientist in the article, supports the global warming theory? Maybe you should e-mail him.

Just because your leanleft website focuses on but one aspect of the article doesn't mean you have to.

Ah, yes. The moving target defense. Just to reiterate:

All you've got is that it was only the scientist in question and not the CNRC. :nyer:

That e-mail wasn't a actual denouncment, but I'm willing to say we're both right.

    I'm just righter. :finger:

How can a man be pussied out?

Oh... No, I'm just declaring victory. While Dr. Tapping may believe in global warming, Dr. Patterson has used Tapping's research as a point that a drop in solar activity could radiate the Earth less - a perfectly sound theory if one has the most rudimentary understanding of thermal dynamics. :)

That some guy sent a jilted e-mail to Dr. Tapping and got a reply back stating that he's breathing out EarthDeathGas doesn't change that. :walz:

I just made that term up off the fly by the seat of my pants.

Rep me (postive or negative, I don't care, just pay me attention). :bergman:

So....hell....let's just go back to widespread use of aresols....problem solved, eh?

Here's a longer resource list...i have not fact-checked any of it...just giving you a starting place via a quick Google.
