El Chup appears to have passed away

A while back, I got a notice from Facebook asking if I wanted to connect with Martin W., a former coworker of mine. That would be a real trick, I thought: Martin's been dead for a few years.

There's a nice woodland walk I take the pooch but being in Wales it's sometimes not viable due to heavy rain or high wind. Lately, too dark by the time I get free from work.

BTW, there are a few of you here - 2 or 3 in particular - that I'd really like connecting with on Facebook but I don't know your RL name. Anyone interested PM me and I'll give you mine.

I literally put him on ignore two weeks ago. I'm not gonna pretend like I'm gonna miss his more shrill tendencies (because he certainly wouldn't have and I don't say that to take the piss, he was exceedingly proud of his stubbornness), but I do wish I hadn't made that crack about his dadto get a rise out of him as my last words to him.

Hey Matt, get a Fitbit. You can compete with yourself or with friends and it's really fun. You can get into more strenuous cardio as your health improves. You can still enjoy wine and food too. Just moderate and get motivated!

This whole thing sucks. I wasn't a fan of his but at least he had reasoned opinions. I hope he met his maker and fared well. Godspeed.

I'm not going to say stop eating or drinking; we all kill ourselves doing whatever we like best, at our chosen speed. But I will say we would miss you if you were gone; and that while I didn't care if I lived or died for many years -- not unhappy, just kind of disengaged -- I do prefer to live now, and chances are you will again too.

negative Ghost Rider! You need to do cardio too - just don't go "all out" if you are packing a few extra pounds. And running isn't the only cardio - walking (fast, no evening stroll!) especially at an incline on a treadmill, will burn a lot of calories and is good for your heart too. And it's easier on your joints if you are a bit heavy. You're a scientist so you know the importance of keeping accurate data - log your time exercising, calories burned, amount of reps you do on various exercises and track your progress and hold yourself accountable if you fall short on a bad day.

And the booze is no worse an "empty calorie" than any other - I'm sure if you cut back on other "bad" foods like sweets you can still drink. For example when I quit drinking in July I cut out a lot of calories from alcohol - but made up for it eating other crap. Bottom line - it's all about calorie management.

I always read his posts in a pompous British accent, not because i disliked him but because it sounded really funny

He was arrogant, so are all of us in some degree, but he had some very well reasoned positions and wordforge is definitely worse off without him

The last real interaction I had with him was in the thread about sad moment or whatever in movies, he was being his usual self, I rep'd one of his posts as . I did it to piss him off as he was coming across as arrogant and somewhat of a douche. But I'll admit that there were plenty of times that I refrained from repping a post of his as or just because I knew he'd get bent out of shape and go off on one of his episodes. A while back I accidentally rep'd a post of his as and he reported it or whined to the staff over it. Don't know why, maybe it was his admission to having some issues that kept me from or that he seemed to take some reps way too seriously. I felt somewhat bad about it earlier today, but then realized that he had it coming, and that I'd given him more leeway than most on here. I'll miss the guy, but he wasn't a saint and he did bring on a good amount of what he got on himself.

He and I most certainly did not get along, but I'm sorry to see a life end too soon. May he rest in peace.

I can’t seem to find my last interaction with El Chup, I know it’s been at least two or three weeks, I’ve been too busy arguing with @Man Afraid of his Shoes.

I’m sad to say he had me on ignore for the last several months. We had ups and downs. Clearly I struck a nerve yet it’s sad since I generally agreed with him.
