Influence is not taking the choice away from you. You are still solely responsible for your decisions.

And "attack" is one of those terms that is thrown around for trivial reasons. With specifics, it could mean "bludgeoned with a fence post" or "said mean words to me on the internet. "

    Therefore, it's always trivial.

Therefore we reserve judgement until we see some specific evidence, rather than gauging the veracity in proportion to the default victimhood status of the parties involved.

I am morbidly curious as to what bastardized concept of "integrity" I'm not measuring up to in your diseased mental organ. But of course you will never back that up.

    "I reserve judgment".

You literally couldn't make it one post without failure.
    And my point is proven.

    Triple failure.

Apparently, all the third party developers who have had their API access cut off are pivoting to making Mastodon clients. That’ll almost certainly attract people to it.

You do realize you have to have pulaski stimulating your neural cortex because you were stung with a alien vine creature that is virally infecting your body when you start doing this.

I hate recap episodes. Where is troi to tell us your emotional state?

Not sure about the first 3, but the last one is new. This is the 2nd building in SF that Twitter isn't paying rent on, and this one's more important (and they might be more likely to get away with it, too).

Okay, this podcast episode starts out with an interview with a guy who just got laid off at Google. His job at Google was being part of the team that helps SpaceX and Starlink manage their satellites. He talks about a few things that are of interest (and somewhat related to Musk). He'd been with the company for about 20 years, and like a lot of Googlers, the company was in such a hurry to get him out the door that they didn't even give his bosses notifications that heads were going to be lopped off in their departments. That's not just him saying that, it's also the CEO of Google (not going to try to spell his name or Google it). He also said that he'd gotten really complacent and just kept all of his stuff in the Google accounts associated with his job. He lost access to those accounts right before he found out he no longer had a job. So all that shit he kept in those accounts that he would have kept in other accounts if he thought that there was a chance of losing his job is now gone.

One thing that he said though, which really caught my ear, is what he said SpaceX had gotten the launch costs down to. He didn't give his source for this information, so it might be wrong, or it might be something he learned while working with the SpaceX folks. He claims that launch costs for SpaceX are now down to $10/pound. This is the theoretical cost number that was predicted thirty years ago, if you could launch a disposable rocket like the Saturn V, every day for a year. SpaceX is up to something like 100 launches a year now, with reusable rockets, so perhaps he hit it. It could also be that dude's mistaken or laying, or being lied to. I don't know.

Then, the hosts cover a story that they don't realize, actually gives Twitter a way to make some serious cash. The Financial Times announced that they were closing their Mastodon server because the legal headaches associated with running a server, when you're a ginormous company, are more than they want to deal with. (And if SCOTUS fucks up the cases related to Section 230 that they're hearing this session, we'll be in the same boat in the US.) If Musk has Twitter tweaked so that you can do things like have groups the same way you can on FB, then he could offer those (along with moderation, etc.) to big companies for a price. Some might be willing to take him up on the idea.

The really should be gearing up for Spoutible (stupid name)

It looks likely to be the closest Twitter analog which would seem to make it very compatible with all the third party stuff that works on pre-Elon Twitter.

    Goes public next week

Elon Musk personally demanded the banning of anti fascist journalist Chad Loder:

"In late November, an account belonging to the leftist activist Chad Loder was banned from the platform. In Twitter’s internal system, a note read, “Suspension: direct request from Elon Musk,”"

Interesting timing, given Musk has also been hit with a lawsuit in Germany over Holocaust Denial:
