I don't think that the documents case is politically timed because they did indeed need to give him time to return the documents and then follow their procedures to ensure that it was beyond a shadow of doubt. And based on what has been made public, that's clearly the case. We'll see if it survives the Trump appointed judge.

The Jan 6th timing IMO is at least partly political in nature, and I said that two years ago when people were asking why Trump wasn't charged already. But you know what? It's within the statute of limitations, it took months to investigate and they had to do their diligence and get it right, and HE FUCKING DID IT. There's nothing that says that it can't be done a year before the election. Primaries haven't even begun yet.

So there's no moral equivalent to 'it's ONLY political.'

The good guys don't have to unilaterally disarm. They are allowed to play politics too. The people that did the most good for this country such as Lincoln and FDR absolutely were political beasts.

There's just this hyper-partisanship built up to where you can't ever concede anything. Not one inch of ground, or you lose the war forever. Any news that looks good for the enemy is actually bad or a lie. Anything bad for "your side" is good or the other side's fault or a lie. You see it here when someone posts economic news and everyone rushes to blame/praise one party or another.

I think some people just simplify it down to "I hate Those People and I'll cheer anything bad happening to them and seethe over anything nice."

I think that's a lot of the anti-"woke" motivation honestly. And then on the other side people were Concerned that the Wrong People would enjoy Joker.

Trump deserves punishment for nonpayment of business debts and his destructive, anti-American policies and poisoning millions of minds with his rhetoric and that time he personally went to an immigrant detainment center and made them all watch Jim Carrey movies, yes . . . but Those People are going to build on his comeuppance too much and it just boils my blood to think there won't be anything to put them in their place . . . wait, I know! Hunter Biden's laptop!
