While nothing is 100 percent, most (I would say the vast majority) of people burning an American flag are severely "pissed off" at America. They realize that burning the flag will get their message across more effectively than just about anything else would. I'm thinking not too many people get together to burn an American flag to celebrate just how beautiful is our "freedom of speech" and want to demonstrate their love for said freedom. So suffice it to say that if you could "exit poll" a group of people burning an American flag they would lean heavily toward being very upset at America, and not a small percentage would lean toward hating America. BTW as a military member I (and many members of my extended family) we took an oath to defend The Constitution, not the flag. The flag can be replaced with a new version tomorrow. Our Constitution is rock-solid until about 24 hours into Hillary's term. Discuss!
Wait...you are complaining that they are exercising their fundamental right to free speech by burning the flag, saying that they should leave and "go to NK where freedom of speech doesn't really exist." Do you not see a disconnect in that thought? You clearly don't like people utilizing the freedom of speech so maybe you'll be happier in NK where that freedom doesn't exist. Go pack. But I won't help.
I'm not saying he's not free to say it, I'm saying that there is a fundamental disconnect in what he's saying.
The bible should not be burned, its a good book. The people who twist the words inside to fit their agenda should be burned instead.
Yes, selecctuve and anecdotal evidence for a population based question. Shouldn't a grad student understand the flaw in that approach?
I think any book that people feel is so sanctified it's dollar store printing should not be burned needs to be burned.
Measuring yourself up against your ability to kill everyone on the planet isn't all that great. I'd actually argue more for the relative peace nuclear weapons can achieve as something of a deterrent to us decimating the planet and each other, if I was going to use nuclear weapons as an example of anything at all. At the end of the day it's a sad commentary on humanity that we needed to create and build these fucking things in the first place. Unless an Armageddon type scenario comes about and we nuke an asteroid bound for earth. Then I will happily eat crow. Because that would be pretty cool if we pulled that off.
It's pathetic that we need nuclear weapons to wipe out 99.999 percent of humanity - god did it with a fucking flood! Brilliant strategy without having to dip into a bag of tricks. So top that mankind!
