How would you like to be the commanding officer of a military installation where a SECOND shooting rampage happens?

To be fair, the jerkwad was brought in to talk about the lost airliner, and suddenly had to talk about the shootings. I mean, if it's the same jerkwad that was on when they cut in on the airliner conjecturing to conjecture on the shooting.

Only if the shooter was a Muslim. If he had any less than a spotless record of Statist cheerleading, it's terrorism.

Maybe they have a different person in charge by now. So it would actually be the first time under that guy's watch.
But yeah, it would be rough, but you can't be with every single soldier 24/7, and when somebody flips out, nobody can stop them.

Already people are discussing allowing people to carry guns on military installations. At the present they are all "gun free zones" which to a crazy person = "a target rich environment."

You were being sarcastic. That said, Obama is commander in chief. The same installation has been shot up twice under his watch.

    Have any policies been changed?

Apples and oranges. With the first situation an anti-American radical Muslim (who was identified and reported as a threat by his fellow officers) was ignored by The Army, because they have a diversity agenda - started way before Obama took over. That ploicy has not been changed.

With the recent situation a guy with PTSD who was treated finally snapped, and even the most proactive policies can't stop the sheer numbers of military members who have PTSD and struggle to deal with it - we can't go back in time and keep them out of combat. The damage is done, all we can do is try to help the victims.

I don't blame any president if you aren't drafted - we all know the risks when we sign up.
That said, I just wish these murder/suicide fuckers would start with the suicide part first, and not take out everyone with them.
But it is scary knowing that the insane (especially living off-post) can bring a gun to the installation but the sane soldiers aren't allowed to carry weapons unless they are at the range or hunting. A crazy can only get off so many shots before the armed take him out. I'm assuming the sane vastly outnumber the insane. And of course the shooters go where the cops (the only ones armed) are not, which makes sense of course.

Cool! Now compile a list of how many soldiers bought weapons from that same store and didn't kill anyone.
Yeah, that's what I figured. It must be the guns, it can't be the owners.

The federal government found it appropriate to issue him weapons, seems fitting that a civilian store would hold to that standard.

Fucking A . Twitty! Now allow every soldier who is legally able to carry a POW (personally owned weapon) to actually carry that weapon 24/7 and crazies might go somewhere else to do their thing.
Here's the thing - off post, off duty, every swinging dick can buy a weapon and carry it anywhere - except on post, that's a "gun free" zone.
Amazingly, once somebody crosses The Rubicon of Crazy and goes ape-shit, they don't care about getting in trouble, and put the gun in their trunk, drive on post, then go ape-shit.
If this isn't an example of government failing to protect you by straight-jacketing you, I don't know what is.
