Jesus wept man. Lanz has some greater priorities in his life at the moment then serving your eagerness for WF legend status. Be patient.

I would at least like to see the Iron Room and Gold Room rolled up into the Green Room.

I'd leave the others for now.

Maybe you should run away again then.

I will be interesting to see if you post a "do you love me" poll for a second time when you decide to come back. :bailey:

That was a while ago now. It seemed funny at the time . . .

Oh, since this has been bumped, y'all may have noticed that no forums have been merged. The more I think about it, the less sense that idea makes to me.

It probably makes more sense to rename the Gray Room to "Chad's Sexy Funtime Gray Room." :bailey:

Or to have some sort of monthly poll to see who gets to have the Gray Room named after them next.

While I can see how cutting down to 3 or 4 rooms like Async was suggesting might be a bit much for some people (I personally like it), I see no downside to merging some of the little used forums, ESPECIALLY the admin ones. Besides 'Don't Go Changin' Nothin' what are the downsides? The Gray Room is literally a joke, there have been a dozen Iron Room threads in the last year, only a handful with any activity, we all understand that the Barack Obama dual is killed, and anyone who wants to know what goes on in the Briefing Room has had plenty of chances to read it by now.

And the potential upside is real. A board I am on went through it and now that it has been half a year, everyone, even those opposed at the time agree that at worse it was no worse and most now support it. And the posting numbers show a decided uptick in activity.

And that is with a closed board. No new members. Only getting current members to post more. A big boon is having a nice clean ACTIVE board to try and sell people on. We've seen in recent months how effective asking older members to return can be (what a crazy suggestion that was!) let's keep the ball rolling by ending this board stagnation and actually spruce the place up a little bit? Make it look like a fun place to hang out.

With the not inconsiderable trolling, misuse of personal information, racism, bigotry and American political bi-partisanship I am not sure how many people would chalk this up as a fun place to be.

It is not enough to get people here. You need to ensure they stay. If old members leave or post less, then that's perhaps an indication that WF is not quite the jolly fun place to be, but rather the tyoe of place where only a certain type of person is happy to be.

Since Lanz changed Rep there has been a marked improvement in the atmosphere of the board. So much so that even people that were against it in the beginning have come around to supporting it.

Change CAN be a good thing.

Hopefully it won't take years of lobbying for Lanz to come around on this like it did for Rep but if it does it does.

I agree with both of you. Form is less important than content, and the content is off-putting for any n00b who isn't already an adherent of the WF Way.

That said, it's a shame that a lot of really good topics (Tuckerfan's contributions in Techforge, for example) get short shrift because no one knows they're there.
