An interesting part of the books which didn't make it into the TV series was that Rob wrote a will and read it to the soldiers and lords of his army before the red wedding. In it he named Jon Snow his heir as King in the North which several lords objected to seeings how Jon Snow was in the Night's Watch and so supposedly had given up all family ties. That helps to explain why so many lords would agree to name Jon King in the North. Rob had vouched for him and had named him the legal heir.

That's interesting. I wonder why they didn't mention that in the show? Seems like most of the Starks considered Jon a part of the family except for Catelyn and maybe Sansa.

Ironically Sansa and Jon never had a scene together in the show until their 'reunion' last season. So we don't really know what their relationship was like before. Unless it's covered in the books?

Is it just me or are meat pies all the food craze right now? I think it is due to the popularity of Game of Thrones which features traditional British meat pies. Seriously, for the last few years this food trend has been growing and now there is one not far from my house which is Zagat rated with lines out the door.

Is this just a culinary trend, a British food revival, or a flash in the pan due to everyone's favorite fantasy show?

    Good episode.

Tyrion should stay on the political side of things. His war plans were squashed. Hard. Daenerys needs a good general. She doesn't have one.

Daenerys is getting quite mean in how she's treating people. Liked how Jon handled her. Also Jon dropped the he's not a Stark but Tyrion didn't catch on to it.

Littlefinger actually gave good advice to Sansa.

Loved how Euron was trolling Jaime.

Cersi is a total bitch but how she handled the Sand Snakes was spectacular. :techman:

Melisandre must be the first person to scare Varys. The look on his face after what she said to him was priceless.

Olenna Tyrell gave Jaime a final fuck you bitch moment and there wasn't a damn thing he could do about it except what he actually did. Walk out the door.

The episodes are longer but it seems like they are running very fast. Too fast. I wanted more.

    He's not a Stark, he's a Snow. I don't think he yet knows he's (likely) a Taergarian.

Jamie made a pretty savy move copying what Rob Stark did to him in the Whispering Woods. The teleporting Greyjoy fleet remains just as annoying as ever as they pop it from one side of westerous to the other inbetween scenes but I guess they have to do that with the compressed time schedule. Next episode should be the big showdown between Dany's army and the la nister Army and we all know from the promo clips how that turns out.

I think Jon took Southwest Airlines to get to Dragonstone.

I think the speed thing is like what they did last season with time moving on, be nice if we had a bit of a pointer to it though.

Not sure you can blame Tyrion for being a bad general, he's had his victories before, but they've just really arrived in Westeros as a force and if anticipating Cersei's moves was easy she'd be wormfood already.

It's good to see Dany being pushed back against though, makes for a better story than the place getting steamrollered.

Mistake #1 was dividing their forces. The Queen of Thorns was right; just burn the shit, do it fast, and show everyone your power. Now both halves of her fleet are toast and she has half of her army in one place while the other half is some where totally else

We know she ambushes Jamie's Army next episode and wins thank to dragon fire but she is in a bad way with half her assets gone and both of her main allies out of it.

My daughter said the same thing.

"It took Jon like three episodes to get from Winterfell to The Wall and now everybody's crossing the whole country in no time at all!"

Man!! This show is finally where I wanted it to be as far back as season 2! Everything is moving so fast now.

If you look at a map of Westeros, Pyke, the home of the Iron Fleet is really close to Casterly Rock. With 1,000 ships, it's not too hard to swallow that a garrison of 300-350 ships stayed behind to protect the Iron Islands. They could've swooped in on the Unsullied in no time.

It's nice to see that the fact that the Lannister gold mines have run dry have finally paid off. Tyrion had no way of knowing that since it was revealed to us in a private conversation between Tywin & Cersei when Tyrion was locked up and awaiting trial for Joffrey's murder. Had he known, he would've protected Highgarden for sure as the true seat of power.

Did anyone else catch the producers take a shot at "The Walking Dead" in the conversation between Tyrion and Jon? I completely missed it and my girlfriend was like "OH SNAP!" when Tyrion made the reference.

Finally, did anyone see the Next Week On teaser? The knife that was used in Bran's assassination attempt makes an appearance somewhere and it looks like Arya is within sight of Winterfell!

    Only 4 more episodes left.

@AlphaMan Yes the Iron Isles are very near the westerlands but early in the episode the Iron Fleet was in King's Landing which means they would have sailed all the way down past the Kingslands, part the Stormlands, past Dorne, past the Reach, past the Westerlands because the show showed them attacking from the north (dickless spear guy was facing west when he was looking at the ocean).

If Euron has 1000 ships, who's to say he didn't leave some at the Iron Isles? Maybe he split his fleet up on each coast of Westeros. It's the only thing that makes sense since we saw Euron in Kings Landing.

The confrontation between Dany and Jon was interesting. Because we as the audience know what both of these characters have gone thru so we sympathize with both their positions.

But they are total strangers to each other and have no concept of what the other has faced over these past few years. So its not surprising that they started off with an argument. It took Tyrion to bring them a step closer together.

And of course they are much closer than anyone could imagine. Except for Bran (and maybe Littlefinger). I wonder if Bran will spill the news to Sansa or wait for Jon.

Its kind of sad, the Bran who left Winterfell no longer really exists anymore. He didn't seem the least bit emotional at reuniting with Sansa. He probably spends most of his days lost in visions of the past and visions of faraway places.

Plus given that he described Sansa's wedding to Ramsay Bolton he's got the vision to see pretty much everything.

Probably watching every girl in action and spanking the monkey 24/7.

The best type of porn too. You're right there in person watching it.

If he's paralyzed below the waist he may not be able to spank anything.

Which would explain his morose expression. :bergman:

I always wondered if Meera ever helped him out down there. They have spent literally years travelling together. She would have had to feed him and clean him up like a baby. :soma:

    http://gizmodo.com/someone-hacked-into-hbo-and-is-now-releasing-game-of-th-1797397619/amp

Hackers got into HBO's network and stole several terabytes of data. Shortly after that they started releasing not yet aired HBO shows as well as show scripts (including one for the next episode of GoT).

The hackers have said unless a ransom is paid more shows will be released to the public. Hopely they release the rest of this season of GoT so I can binge watch them and not have to wait any more.
