From Reddit: "Attention southerners who survived the dragon queen attack! If you or a loved one has been diagnosed with Mesothelioma you may be entitled to financial compensation."
I swear that Dany looked just like her brother at Storm's End when she warned Tyrion about failing her again and she was looking out at the sea.
Qyburn has a bit of a headache for trying to stop Cleganebowl. I actually liked his character. He seemed rational. He knew it was time to book it. I was surprised that Cersei didn't have The Mountain throw him out the keep for wanting to run but I think it shows that even as evil as she could be she knew it was time to run as well. I thought it funny that Cersei realized that the Clegane's wanted to fight and didn't give a crap about her. "Excuse me I'm just going slide by you two. Have fun." The Mountain had the high ground but The Hound was smart. He didn't jump in the air and get all fancy about it. Just tackled the Mountain's ass into the fire. The memes are going to be crazy on this one.
One of my many comments while watching with my wife and oldest daughter: Producers: "So...y'all thought last week sucked? Well check out this shit, motherfuckers. "
I will say that it was a cop-out to have Cersei apparently crushed instead of standing accountable for all she's done.
That's the thing about life though..... It doesn't go the way you want it. Probably be conspiracy theories for years that Cersei and Jaime are alive. At least until they dig down and find his metal hand.
And I can see the people wishing for Cersei. You can say a lot of things about Cersei but she never burned down a city. And there is no proof that she blew up the mega-church. She probably blamed it on them.
Well fuck. Visually, it was an amazing episode. But I’m not sure how I feel about how events went down. Cersei died but escaped any sort of trial or retribution. Jaime died a pointless death. He didn’t save Cersei or kill her. At least he killed Euron (would have been better if Theon had killed him). Arya did nothing useful this episode except get caught up in an apocalypse. She didn’t kill Cersei or the Mountain. I kept expecting some faceless man training to come into play... but nothing. Tyrion did nothing in this episode. His plea to Dany was ignored. His attempt to save Jaime was a failure. Davos did nothing. Bran did nothing (I know he’s not in this episode but you’d think he would have something useful to do considering how powerful he is). Jon did nothing in this episode. He stood by and let tons of innocent people get slaughtered. Ok he’ll probably end up killing Dany next episode but what’s the point now? There is no Iron Throne and no Kings Landing. I guess Sansa wins since she’ll be the only ruler left standing. Either the 7 kingdoms will dissolve into independent states or the North will become the new capital (I doubt that). Where did all those Dothraki come from? Thought they were all dead. Cleganebowl was satisfying at least. I really wish GRRM would finish the damn books already. I want to know how all this plays out in his version. He’ll probably be dead before he finishes book 7.
This episode was so good. Great even... but I’m so disappointed in how the writers treated Danaerys. Once they killed Jorah & Missande & Jon sort of turned on her, I guess the writing was on the wall. It just seemed like this woman we’ve been following for the last 9 years was better than this. I guess I’ll have to start reading the books after next week and hope to get an ending to it.
Is the Mountain actually dead? I mean if a dagger through the eye and out the other side doesn’t do it, is a big fall and a little fire going to do him in?
And... Game of Thrones became Game of Thrones again. Fire and blood and shattered dreams. I had a hunch for years that Daenerys was going to die at the end. Her ascent was too clean and convenient for this fucked up world of Martin's. What we saw last night was the death of Daenerys as a force for good, and now Tyrion and the Starks have to deal with her as the final enemy. This week I'll be traveling and won't be able to watch the finale until Tuesday or Wednesday. I'll just have to stay off the Internet entirely for three days.
Oh, you sweet summer child! Go back over her worst hits without the hoping, and dreaming, and finger crossing, and the "she'll get better!", feeling in the way. She's been a ticking timebomb for a good goddamned long while.
I'm OK with how this episode ended up. The writing was on the wall for a long time. But the offing of Varys had me thinking about how the show should have kept the more intriguing characters around till the very end. Varys, Baelish, Olenna, Melisandre, Jaqen H'ghar, and even the Night King could have been featured much more prominently. Also, I thought Qyburn was going to set a trap. His fascination with the dead wight had me thinking something was going to go down. But that storyline went nowhere.
I think Varys sacrificed himself. He was pretty sloppy in the last two episodes running his mouth. I think he was trying to get across to Tyrion and even at the end Jon that Dany can't be the ruler. Looks like he was right but it cost him his life.
Arya running around the city during the apocalypse was intentional - the producers wanted a POV character in the midst of the terror, so we could experience what the people were experiencing and care about them. Anybody remember Dani's vision of the Iron Throne from - was it season 1? She saw the room in ruins, with snow falling thru a collapsed ceiling onto the throne. Now we know it wasn't snow - it was ash. This was always going to be what happened.
I was pleased in the beginning to see that Dani had figured out believable tactics against the scorpions. Attack out of the sun, then go low and fast and keep out of their lines of fire. Blast the gate and the guards from the rear. All perfectly sensible. Then she let her inner Targarian take over and it went all to hell. Literally.
I think the millenials naming their daughters Daenerys or Khaleesi might have been premature as well.
*Stands back from marker board with a spaghetti ball of squiggles* Yeah, I don't see a way out of this that doesn't involve Bran time traveling, and rebooting the whole show.
