At the moment it seems plausible that US intel revealed: 1. reliable expectations of likely attacks on US targets and 2. location of enemy Gen'l in Iraq, just miles away from recent assault on our embassy.

Oh, and I have a quick question: Who were the Americans this guy killed? When and where did it happen? Not doubting that it did, but I've yet to see anything identifying the victims and the circumstances under which it happened.

What shit is that? Killing Americans? Okay, which Americans have they killed? I assume that they have, but I don't know which ones. Do you? Where are the statements by the victims' families praising Trump for this action?

Since we've been over this before, I'll skip asking you about Iran and it's compliance with the nuclear agreement. You don't think that they were, even though there's considerable evidence to the contrary. Let's just talk about how the US got Iran to the table to discuss that agreement, for a moment, shall we? And credit where credit is due, the effort started under W, and was continued under Obama. The US, along with its various allies engaged in a two-front operation. One part of that was Stuxnet, which was a malicious software program we managed to install in the various Iranian nuclear facilities. It literally ground their operations to a halt. The second part was targeted assassinations, often done on Iranian soil. We (and our allies) killed Iranian nuclear scientists and government leaders. Quietly. Yeah, our fingerprints were all over it, but because we didn't go making a big deal about it, everybody just shrugged their shoulders and moved on.

Now, I can see taking this guy out if we had evidence that there was going to be an imminent attack on Americans. Where's that evidence? Who were the Americans? Where was the attack going to take place? Have you seen any information which explains this? I haven't.

You'll also notice that the only "jingoistic" meme I've posted in this thread is the one about John Bolton, and even folks like Paladin found it funny. My issue is less about us whacking a guy who worked for Iran, than the manner in which he did it.

You, by contrast, felt compelled to post a jingoistic dick-waving meme which claims Trump is superior because Obama only sent money, while Trump sent missiles. Ignoring the issue with Obama returning Iran's money, this implies that Obama was the only President to give money to terrorists and that he never fired missiles at them. This is blatantly absurd, and anyone with an understanding of American history of the past 40 years would know this. Obama was really drone happy and didn't have a problem with taking people out using missiles. And Republican Presidents have been just as happy to sell weapons to terrorists or give them money. To pretend that Obama was somehow different than any other American President in the past 40+ years is, to be blunt, fucking stupid.

Oh, and as a final note, if you want to dig around on the boards here, you will find posts from me saying that I wasn't entirely thrilled with Obama's use of drone strikes. I didn't always object to them, but I was a little less than thrilled by his willingness to use them.

I don’t know what specific Americans were killed, but this guy is responsible for specific weapons used in Iraq that killed countless Americans. Does it really matter who specifically he killed. They tried to burn down our embassy. What were we supposed to do? Keep in mind they also shot down one of our drones and we let it slide. At some point you have to do something to show them there are consequences.
