That's sex trafficking. Gotta go there, make the payment then do the traditional thing (take her out, pretend to care about the culture, promise her a better life in Amerika and promise to teach her English) to get on her good side so she goes willingly with you
I can only speak about Moscow, and then only of the city in relatively close proximity to Red Square, but I found plenty to attract tourism there. The Kremlin. Red Square. St. Basil's Cathedral. Moscow City Museum. Museum of the Revolution. Gorky Park. Bolshoi Theater. The Arbat. Tverskaya Street. Any of the major metro stations (you've never seen such grandly architected and decorated stations). The Space Monument and Museum of Cosmonautics. I hear you can tour Mosfilm, the center of Russian filmmaking. My Russian teacher is from St. Petersburg; I'd very much like to visit there. Many sights to see (including a few things RickD mentioned)... The Hermitage. The Winter Palace. Nevskiy Prospect Palace Square. The cruiser Aurora. Further afield... The Trans-Siberian Railroad (I'd love to be able to take that trip). Lake Baikal. St. Sophia Cathedral in Novgorod. Kizhi Island. Mamayev Kurgan in Volgograd (nee Stalingrad). These are the tourist guide highlights. I'm sure you could find much, much more to see and do there.
^ True, and while I don't ever plan to visit Russia (it would be far too expensive), I would love to see some of those sights. Plus, it's not like Vlad will know who is and isn't gay. Unfortunately for him, you can't always tell. Also, Putin likes the cock.
He hasn't been the same since the Casino down the street started advertising the loosest slots in town. Jealousy changes a man.
I'd like hunt bears and salmon fish on the Kamchatka Peninsula. It's not super cold like Siberia so wildlife has a long, long growing season and gets huge and healthy. And you even get a courtesy wake up call during your hunting trips!
Per Paladin: The Arbat - A really old street with a few old statues. It also contains numerous restaurants, including The Hard Rock Cafe. Most of these restaurants are geared towards visitors to Moscow and are considered by many residents to be over-priced and of low quality compared to those in other parts of the city.
Vodka is cheaper than bottled water there, though. And the chicks are sexy, and I say this as a straight woman. The shortest Russian woman I saw in Vladivostok was still considerably taller than myself, and I'm 5'6". And if you're a black dude there, the chicks act like they've just seen Justin Beiber.
You could make similar complaints about the Champs Elysees in Paris or Times Square in New York City or the Strip in Las Vegas or Bourbon Street in New Orleans. Your critique comes perilously close to an old Yogi Berra-ism: "No one goes there anymore; it's too crowded." Part of the fun of visiting another place--particularly another country--is to get a complete change of your surroundings. Walking down "a really old street with a few old statues" in a foreign country may not be YOUR thing, but you shouldn't discount that other people enjoy the feeling of immersion in a different culture and like to contemplate life in an earlier time.
I've been to 3 of the 4 you mention and you don't know what you are talking about. The new Times Square is awesome!! Bourbon Street is FUN at night. Great hangout!
Actor =/= Role Summing up the obvious, then: Travel is a matter of personal preference, and what's fun for one person may not be fun for another. $corp is understandably upset that he can't bring his fantasy date to Russia, but surely there are other places they can visit.
My high school Sociology teacher loved to visit Moscow. Said it was his favorite foreign city. Now, this was during the Cold War in the '70's, and as a US citizen, he was pretty much followed 24/7 by various government agents. He also said he made quite a lot of money selling smuggled in blue jeans (Levi's) and Playboy magazines (centerfold intact!).
I wasn't telling you those places AREN'T fun. Just the opposite. I'm trying to explain to you why someone might enjoy visiting the Arbat. But, hey, if you've decided you would never want to, fine.
Re: Actor =/= Role You mentioned him in your thread title. Because Sulu in this universe isn't gay. Is there something in JJverse that suggests he might be?
