A buddy and I might be buying an old hearse to use as a vehicle for our business. It has windows in the back, though.

Bill Murray will be making a cameo in the reboot. http://www.darkhorizons.com/news/38271/murray-films-ghostbusters-reboot-cameo Oh, suuuuure, Bill, but you wouldn't do a real cast reunion sequel.
So, Fuck Bill Murray. Asshole was too good to make Ghostbusters III, but it apparently going to be in this thing (probably only a cameo, but still). It's pretty much a "Fuck you" to the cast, crew, and fans of the original.
It isn't. It's also Bill putting his money where his mouth is. He publicly backed the idea of an all female lead Ghostbusters, they're doing it, and he's going to be in it as a cameo. Sounds win/win to me.
Ah, well, as far as a cast reunion goes, I count Ghostbusters the video game as Ghostbusters 3, and Youtube walkthroughs of the cutscenes are out there to watch without having to play the game.
Beat it when it was new And Murray is still a douchenozzle. I thought Rick Moranis was one for not being in the game after EVERYONE else was, but years later I found out the real reason...not just "retiring". Retiring after his wife died.
Annie Potts also did a cameo. So, that's everyone from the surviving cast but Rick Moranis and Sigourney Weaver.
Moranis won't come back. God, this movie just sounds worse every day. It's like they know they can't tempt older fans unless they litter it with classic cast members.
Attack Paul Feig on Twitter until you get the Ghostbusters you want. Works for Dayton and Star Trek. Right, @Dayton?
The original Ghostbusters was more than 30 years ago; I don't think the producers are relying too heavily on nostalgia to bring people in. I think the cameos are more about acknowledging the original than tempting older fans. Most of the people this movie will appeal to weren't even born when the original was around.
Rubbish. Not relying too heavily on nostalgia? Bullshit. - Ackroyd - Weaver - Murray - Potts - Hudson - Same logo - Same hearse vehicle concept (and if you know your trivia the one they are using was actually the model originally chosen back in the eighties) - Proton packs with a slight variation - beige boiler suits with the only difference being a couple of orange rings - Four Ghostbusters. One chubby comedian. One sassy comedian. One in glasses. One token black GB. Sound familiar? - Reuse of the original firehouse Not relying on nostalgia? Like hell they're not. It's a direct imitation, and the genderbended the main four Ghostbusters. ..and every bit of this is confirming how much this was built around the gimmick of four female Ghostbusters with little more. This is clearly not a project where they said "let's come up with a whole new take on the property", went away, came up with a great story and then said "hey, these characters would be great as women". Worse still is the new cast have casting had two fingers stuck up at the with both the lack of originality and the need to fill up the film with old cast members. I really don't get the happy clappers making excuses for this shit just because it's got the Ghostbusters name on it. It's just Hollywood once against whoring out old products with as little originality as possible just to make a quick buck. You really don't think this is trying to exploit the Ghostbusters brand? If you don't then I think you're naive as hell.
I'm trying to think of a movie that came out when I was a kid that was a remake of something that had come out 30 years before. I'm sure there must be several, but also the Internet wasn't as big so people weren't complaining as much.
There were remakes back then. But they were far, far less in quantity and were very rarely remakes of iconic classics. In fact, aside from King Kong, I genuinely can't think of one iconic remake in the 60s or 70s without having to look them up. Can anyone imagine a 7os version of Casablanca or Gone with the Wind?
Go ask some 20-year-olds who any of these people are. Maybe a few will know Bill Murray. The well-known Hollywood penchant for recycling successful concepts. Again, a lot of young people aren't even going to realize this is a remake/reboot. The vast majority of people who will be the audience for this *haven't* been eagerly awaiting a Ghostbusters sequel for the last few decades. The vast majority will be people in the 18-25 demographic, a great many of whom will never even have seen the original. I think it's Hollywood recycling something that was very successful. That's NOT the same thing as relying on nostalgia to get people in the theater.
There were a couple of remakes-in-all-but-name of Casablanca: Caboblanco (with Charles Bronson, 1980) and Havana (with Robert Redford, 1990). Believe it or not, Pamela Anderson's dreadful Barb Wire sorta qualifies, since it rips off much of the plot.
As desperately insulting remark that assumes that any 20 something film fan hasn't heard of any movie before his birth date. Not only is it largely untrue, but laughably so.
I know plenty of people in their twenties who know and love the original Ghostbusters. It's obvious that they are trying to get these cameos to get older fans to see it. I'm guessing they have a craptastic movie and they know it. How exactly do they plan on squeezing in all these cameos and a plot?
