Yes. Specifically in universities where they can be quickly debunked by the professor. Remember when liberals thought college campuses should be bastions of free speech? Then they decided to ban people like Ben Shapiro because he hurt their feelings.
So college should basically be "The Phil Donahue Show"? Sounds like it would get unruly pretty quick.
Sure, temporarily. I took a political science class that got heated once. Obviously you don't entertain flat earthers in a geography class for no longer than ten-twenty minutes, but its a classroom, you're there to learn.
I read a story in English class, and it was from the late 50's, early 60's, and it was about a nerdy kid who liked science, but his dad was an insecure redneck farmer who came to school waving a gun at the science teacher. The science teacher scraped some of the scum off the guy's teeth, and showed it to him in a microscope, and proved to him germs were real. UA would want either A.) the teacher in the story to be blown away B.) for the story to be banned C.) both. Seriously though, change disbelief in germs to anti-CRT, and were still having the same dumb arm wrestling match. Shit, Joe Rogan viewers are still having trouble with the fucking germs.
I would like to think you'd have to learn "up is up and down is down" and "sometimes, the emperor is naked" and "pay attention to the man behind the curtain" once, and not have to keep doing it through every grade. The bullshit that's beyond the pale breaks all those basic rules.
You make the mistake of assuming the people spouting that trash are open to having their beliefs debunked. How many years have you and others here been repeating the same easily disproven lies long after being shown evidence to the contrary?
10 to 20 minutes? in a 45 to 50 minute class? That's way too long to entertain nonsense in a university level class - especially when I'm fucking paying up to 1/3 of my income for my child. If I was an 18 year old student paying my own fees, I'd beat the fuck out any idiot who wants to argue nonsense for 20 minutes when I'm paying a shitload of money for a piece of paper. and that goes double for any moron that wants to talk about creationism.
Um, exactly my point. Once you know 1 + 1 = 2, why do you have to have the 1 + 1 = 5 people paraded before you?
The right didn't believe this "truth is democratic, parade all the knuckleheads, and you decide" shit until it became a wedge argument for creationists. Then Repugs who saw they were losing the war of ideas fair and square stroked their beards, and said "hey...that line of bullshit is just what we're looking for! ".
They still don't believe it when the topic involves minorities or any unsavory parts of American history.
You don't have to, but light exposes the truth. You entertain it to show the class just how stupid it is then you shut it down after a certain period of time.
Ok Dayton. When you're done jerking off, you want to respond to the intent? Do you think it's fair for morons to waste other people's time and money insisting on creationism and flat earth?
It's not your classroom. They have just as much right to be there and to ask questions as you or your kid does. It's up to the professor as to what they want to entertain and as to how long.
Wrong. It's a science class. If you or your kid want to discuss religious beliefs, do so at Church. Not in public schools. Not in classes in which other students are paying for their degree - students who don't have a trust fund.
I'm not sure what a trust fund has to do with this situation and I'm not sure why you are bringing religion into this when I didn't and I'm also not sure why you think your kids should have special treatment and other people's kids aren't allowed to ask questions, they too are paying to go to school in this hypothetical situation. In some science classes it would be necessary to discuss religion in some capacity because of people like Copernicus.
Obviously none of that is acceptable. Neither are "math is racist," "all white people are racist" or "neo-pronouns are a moral obligation." How about everyone keep their fucking opinions out of the classroom, rather than using the captive audience to advance their personal agenda?
I have a right to be secure in my property, but nobody violates my rights by allowing me to die of a heart attack.
Pedophile. The word you're avoiding is "pedophile." Bull fucking shit to all of that. They were there to slap him down for opposing their riot in the tiniest way.
Is it a violation of your rights if the state refuses to give a fuck about your stolen stereo? You seem to think it is.
Nobody would be hurt if they hadn't fucked with him. And do these guys qualify as a threat or a cause of escalation? They're just standing there...
