I'm talking about people putting down down payments on a house in order to get a loan.

But, that’s not what you said. Now, you’re saying something different. What funds don’t exist? The down payment?

I didn't say anything about funds not existing. Once again you're not following the thread properly.

Ok. so, a question mark rather than a period. My bad. I misunderstood.

Now, can you be intellectually honest and respond properly to @Spaceturkey’s post? He’s discussing the current state of economics in which some people DO NOT put up any collateral.

I'm not in disagreement that some people do not put up collateral. The Banks love to gamble and their probably going to cause another major housing crisis that crashes the economy.

    Banks love to gamble?

No. First, banks and credit brokers are two entirely different entities and serve at cross purposes. Credit brokers do not want you to pay off your loan. They want you to pay interest. Banks do utilize credit brokers but neither are in the market to gamble.

The issue you are discussing has nothing to do with people with the kind of people Spaceturkey is talking about.

When the loans paid by banks on the word of credit brokers are not repaid and banks are left with property not worth the loan, it isn’t because people were able to purchase property without funds, it’s because credit brokers gambled on being able to pay back loans using the interest generated by guarenteeing loans that ‘in a perfect world’ would take a person’s lifetime to pay back.

The housing crisis that you are arguing here has nothing to do with poor people taking out loans.

Loans with high interest rates? Why are they high? Because they are offered to people with bad credit. This is where the gamble comes in. Lenders are gambling they will make some amount of money for as long as they can. they don’t care about the people with bad credit. They don’t care if the bank is paid back.

Again, that isn’t what spaceturkey is talking about.

No, he's right. Banks love to gamble. It's other people's money.

That's why risk management guidelines are in place today that weren't there before the housing crisis. Trump reversed many.

But risky car loans are all the rage today.

Well, the full amount for the new rental hit the checking account today. There's a 90% chance I'm retiring at this point. I should maybe wait another month but I hate working so much and let's face it, they've only been scheduling me for 4 hours most weeks--and sometimes we don't even get a truck so they tell me to go home or not come in, so it isn't like it's piles of money.

Might say more about the employee than the employer.

Even in the slow season in Paint* my supervisor is going to the manager and getting me hours in other departments to get me to 35 (as I have my kids I can only work 9-5/4:30 [depends on day] M-F which means I am Part Time as you have to be available 5am-11pm every day of the week to be Full Time and guaranteed 40h/week). Twice this week including today I’m working in Tools.

*winter in Seattle is the rainy season so not a whole of exterior painting going on. Plus most folks with families try to move during summer break so their kids don’t change school midyear meaning even interior paint is down.

Rental properties... :dayton: What's that good for? $4000/mo before expenses tops?

I started a non-emergency medical transportation service. Doctor's office bills insurance $250, pays me $200, and then I order the patient an Uber, which usually costs less than $20 as long as I don't tip the driver (which of course I don't because those people need to get real jobs and stop looking to productive members of society, like me, for handouts.)

I made $2500 today doing next to nothing. It would have been nothing, but the kid I hired to arrange the Ubers quit because apparently "a $2 commission per appointment isn't enough pay," and "doing yardwork between appointments is unpaid labor," and "hiring an independent contractor for work that's a regular part your business is a violation of labor laws." Geez, kids these days have no work ethic!

 If I'm trying to work 0 hours a week, why would I be upset that I'm only working 4 hours a week? Why would I want to spend more time carrying stupid lazy people and breaking my back for some corporation when I can do whatever I feel like and a check for more money than I'd make working 35 hours a week will show up every month no matter what I do? :marathon: I mean, if that's your kick, more power to you. I'm tired of dealing with stupid people and BS.

I need to have another look at my side gig. I rent out vehicle storage in my shed. In theory, someone would bring me their motorcycle for the winter. If I were further north it would be slick--they pick up their boat in the summer and change it out for their snowmobiles in the winter. 100% occupancy with reliable, long-term clients. But the way it's been working is that someone will tow in their junker 1990 Chevy pickup to store for "a month," leave it half a year before they stop paying, and then I have to call a towing company to have it impounded. Had one guy who'd just got out of the Army and bought an '80s Toyota Supra to restore. Planned to be there for 2 months. Wound up there for over a year. During that time he got laid off from his new IT job and eventually stopped paying, so I had to call a wrecker to come get the thing and have it impounded. Just not worth the hassle for an extra $260 a month. Now that I'm retired I may look at a different strategy to market the spaces and see if I can make that work.

Have you ever thought about making a show for the Ben Shapiro network? You know, stretch out from TK to stormfront where you belong. You might even be bigger than the storm guy everyone around here seems to be so concerned with.

Who would have thought that white guys who ride motorcycles and have old pickup trucks would be so unreliable? My suggestion is in the future make sure they are gay. That normally means they have money and actually take care of their old car or motorcycle. If they are not gay they are probably looking for storage because their mom told them to get rid of the POS, or their wife wanted it out of the driveway. Gay dudes normally have two professional male incomes so they can afford to keep their toys working and pay for storage while they travel or renovate.

Just a little pro-tip for you.
