Anybody here ever put VZ grips on their pistol? I'm thinking about replacing the factory double diamond grips on my Kimber but I'm not really sure what direction I want to go.

Also, have any of you gone with the half checkered, half smooth wood grips? Thoughts and opinions appreciated.

Can't tell in this light (and working from a photo) but I'd guess walnut.

I dunno I kind of like the classic "double diamond" grips. If I were set on swapping them out, I might consider walnut replacements in the same style.

I forget what the finish is like on your Kimber. If it is blued, a nice dark natural oil walnut in a classic checkering would look nice.

A part of me would be tempted to go with the dimpled MARSOC grips. (Actually the MARSOC .45 is a Kimber too, so it would be somewhat appropriate.)

I saw some smooth grips made out of black walnut crotch wood one time and they were definitely eye catching.

Those dimpled grips on the MARSOC look pretty hard on the hands though.

I have a pair of the Pachmayr "Signature Checkered with thumb swell" grips on mine.

On guns that don't have a checkered front strap, this gives the next best thing as the grips wrap around and have the same diamond checkering on the front strap as they do on the sides.
