Yeah. Partisanship aside, that was some shady-ass shit they pulled to make sure the Hildabeast was their candidate. Bernie probably would have beaten Trump, and despite his reality-impaired worldview he's far less horrible than Clinton.

Agreed. Two things I'm curious about...

1.) What would the punishment be if found guilty?
2.) How much longer will the Hillary brigade pretend that nothing wrong occured?

Yeah, but it's not an argument I'd make if I wanted to show that the DNC is not corrupt.

This is a court of law.

All they have to do is show that they are legally entitled to do what they did. It's not corruption if it's legal.

I don't agree with the practices, but it is what it is.

That's all fine and well, but it goes against everything they supposedly stand for, equality, democracy, justice, fairness, etc. I hope people who are disenchanted with the party and Sanders supporters are paying attention.

According to the OP, that isn't what the lawsuit is about. It's because Wasserman-Schultz did not "exercise impartiality and evenhandedness between the Presidential candidates and campaigns".

That's what the issue has been all along.

What should I do then? Just stick my head in the sand and pretend that the DNC isn't openly saying that it's constituents don't matter? That I shouldn't have a hard time voting Democrat when the party freely admits that who turns up on the ballot is the product of some smoky backroom deal? Fuck that shit.

Whether their charter/by-laws allow it, it's clear that the DNC *is* picking the candidate in a back room, and they've basically admitted as much. So much for "democratic." Right, Bernie fans?

While I'm sure the Republicans have been guilty of the same thing, they certainly weren't *this* past election cycle.

Well ... you could get involved. But, if you think changing parties is going to change the system, you're still sticking your head in the sand. Just hoping the other parties are different.

If you want to do something about the corruption, check out these two links.

God is, apparently, pretty lousy at picking winners.

Or perhaps He just changed His mind. He does that every few thousand years.

No, they weren't. The GOP followed its primary process and wound up with Trump, a candidate no-one in the GOP machinery wanted. The Democrats cheated their primary process because their senior "leadership" had anointed Hillary long before the primaries even started. It was really quite breathtaking.

Given that a lot of the Bernie supporters could see this corruption quite plainly, it's one of the factors that helped elect Trump. Had Hillary won the nomination without all the underhanded douchebaggery, a lot of the Bernie people probably would have come out for her on Election Day. instead, they either stayed home or voted for Jill Stein.

The Dems are a private group that has a right to choose its leaders as it sees fit.

That said, why should the public help fund this?

Personally I like the idea of a top two primary system. Let the parties do (fund) their own selection process.

No, we have a top two system here and it has been a total disaster.
