For the record, I don't hate religion. Nor do I have any vitriol got the majority of people that do leave others alone or at least have the tact which Dayton lacks in expressing their views. I do hate the ones that use religion as a crutch as if going to church after they hit rock bottom sucking dick for crack rock makes them a morality expert. I hate the ones like Dayton and yourself that use it like a club to beat over the head to shout down others and demand respect without any regard for others. I get irritated with those that use God Will Supply(tm) as an excuse to sit on their ass and not figure out a way to better themselves or try to work through the situation they made for themselves. Fuck those people. Any God worth His or Her salt would be irritated as fuck with them as the rest of the world is.
Do you have a problem with Christians stating that certain things are evil and that people should not do them?
Not at all. I mean, I'm still gonna call 'em out if the reasoning is stupid, but I question everything that doesn't make sense to me. But if they aren't suggesting using the Bible as a guide for our secular laws then I couldn't care less.
You've rejected the teachings of Jesus Christ and the fundamental tenets of the Christian faith, "God."
Exactly, though if they get to stand on street corners and yell that I'm going to hell, I get to stand on their street corners and sing Lionel Richie songs.
If "certain things", don't break an arm, pick a pocket, damage property, violate a marriage, or contaminate food, I'd have to say "go fuck youself".
Don't lie, "God," we have ample evidence to the contrary. Satan blessed this board with the power to remember all your previous postings.
Hey did you guys know that a Satan worshipper created this board? I think his name was Pablo Diablo. Cass took the board over and turned it into Wordforge. You Christian types probably shouldn't be posting here. You are basically promoting Satan.
1 Peter 3:15 seems pretty straightforward. Is there another verse right after it that says "But first, thou canst judge if the questioner is sincere or not, and if thou findst his questions too challenging, thou canst declare him insincere as a shield against having to mount a logical defense of thy beliefs on their own merit"?
What I've never understood is that if the idea of God and religion MUST be taught and not innate then how did the idea come about in the first place? Who taught the first person and who taught that person?
Look at a religion you don't believe in, look how its founder is a con-artist that wanted money and pussy, and that's how.
The human imagination is a powerful thing. When the first thinking human being glanced at the sky and saw lightning and heard thunder, he had to rationalize it using the only reasoning skills he had at the time. The more we learn, the more religions change. I have no doubt that Christians living in the early 100s A.D. would be flabbergasted at the behavior of Christians in the 14th century, who would be shocked and appalled at Christians in the 21st century. Because social change was slow, and because knowledge took time to spread, new ideas had to take root over decades, even centuries. Thanks to the information age that piggy backed on rapid scientific advancement, new information spreads far faster, enabling greater change at a far more rapid pace. With our newfound knowledge, we don't have to fear the gods of thunder and lightning, because we're aware of light and sound and how it works.
I've lied now and then. I asked for forgiveness and it was granted so it no longer counts against me.
People who have murdered another person, asked forgiveness, and then was sentenced to death would like to talk to you about the effects of what you do to others and how asking forgiveness doesn't simply wipe it all away.
Being forgiven by God in no way eliminates Earthly punishments for sins. Whether it be lying or murder. My being forgiven by God for lying doesn't keep the people on this board from bringing it up repeatedly and using it as a club to beat me over the head. Being forgiven by God doesn't mean that a murderer sentenced to die is suddenly not subject to a lawfully executed death sentence.
The Bible assures people who repent and confess their sins to God and ask forgiveness sincerely are granted forgiveness.
Have you forgiven everyone of their sins against you? Do you not judge others who sin because you know you are the chief of sinners? Do you forgive your brother 70 x 7? If not, Matthew would like to speak to you about some things you're doing, and what isn't covered under the Lord's insurance plan.
When you lie, you know you are lying, and if you intend to confess then you are committing an intentional sin which cannot be forgiven, So you can't be forgiven, you know you are lying and have lied intentionally, so you can't be forgiven and can't receive salvation.
Intentional sins are not the "unforgivable sin". Rejection of the Holy Spirit is the unforgivable sin.
Of course I forgive everyone who sins against me. Assuming they request forgiveness. Not required to forgive those who don't ask for it. And not judging others does not refer to judging whether their actions are sins or not. It refers to judging whether their soul is lost or not.
See, and that's what's so fucked up about it. Not believing in Jesus is worse than rape, murder or genocide? If John Wayne Gacy or Radovan Karadžić accepts Jesus, they'll go to heaven, but a Buddhist or Hindu or atheist who spends their entire life doing good works and helping people, won't? I mean, seriously, what kind of cruel, petty, fucked-up god would set up a system like that?
