And then there's all those regs about fraternization on the books... The ones that can get you NJP or a court martial...
According to one of my friends, there's going to be some all hands training about coming out the "right" way to come out sometime after our Christmas stand-down
And the funny thing is fraternization is easier to prove than adultery! With adultery witnesses have to actually see you having sex, or one of you has to break down + admit to it. With fraternization "sex" is a moot point. Just spending time doing any number of seemingly innocent activities with the wrong people (creating the perception of inappropriate behavior or unfair advantage) will get you busted.
The faulty premise is that because both are gay, they are automatically going to fuck. If hetro-people routinely fuck each other for no other reason than that both are hetro (even under odd circumstances such as the military) I've certainly been left out of that particular parade over the years. Why should we assume it's different for the gays?
So what's the next step here? Transgender troops? I mean, just because a biological male identifies as a female, should she be barred from serving her country? Does she go in the barracks with the biological females? Use the female heads and showers?
Depends on whether the person is post transition or in the midst of it. If the latter: There would be medical related issues. Not unlike, for instance, diabetics or epileptics (assuming the person was on HRT) and there would be conflicts between the needs of the individual (hair removal, for instance) and the interests of the service. I don't think it would be practical to transition while on active duty. But post transition? I don't see why you would have any particular issue dealing with a person as their identified gender. There is no essential difference between a post-op transwoman and a natal woman. The former will never be on her period, never be at risk of pregnancy, and might potentially retain marginally more upper body strength (though not necessarily). Please explain why such a woman would be a threat in any way in the head/shower/barracks.
Wouldn't bother me at all. Can't imagine why it would bother you. I was only in for four years, but the only time male and female barracks were separated was in training. Then it was just a big open room with 60 bunk beds in four rows separated only by lockers. What the hell is going to happen there? At the PDS, the guy I was seeing (who later became my husband) practically lived in my room and everyone including both First Seargents (he was in a different company) knew about it, but said nothing.
I sure as hell missed that one. I seen room mates who never talked and got in bad fights at times. It was like a fucking cold war between some of them guys. Its not a motel. You stayed in the room you were assigned. It got so bad that some guys spent all they made renting another place off base. They called that "ghosting" but everything still had to be uptight for inspections in the dorm room on his side, so that sucked. I spent 5 years in them dorms and it was always some kind of bullshit. Inspections, fire drills, bomb threats at 2 am, etc. It was certainly not a relaxing environment.
Why's this thread even still going? The fagnits get to go queering around now. Oh fuckin' well. Will they be flaming it up five years from now? Probably not, the novelty will have died off by then. For awhile, though, we can expect to see pink fuckin' camouflage. Who gives a shit.
Only in Las Vegas. Even they know better than to use pink in an area that needs blue or green or gray or brown.
