Yep, and that shit is going to happen. The dorms were already always abuzz about who is fucking who while who has gone TDY and lots of fights and shit over that all the time. That shit is just going to get worse with this. In the civilian world, you work your 8 hours a day with someone, gay or straight, it doesn't matter, and then go home to your life. In the military, you end up with the same bunch 24/7 and everybody knows everybody's business. How you going to have any respect for Tech Sergeant X when you find out he's sucking Airman Basic Y's cock when airman Y's room mate walks in on them.

You've already got gays. How is How is it going to be any different just because they're lifting the "ban"?

I think (guessing here) that gays have much more practice in being discreet. Odds are you will never find out who is doing who because their whole life they have been cautious +discreet for the most part.

Please. The men on my ship are the absolute worst gossip hounds by far. Anytime a new female checks in and they see her sit down next to a guy in the fucking chow hall, the rumor mill starts flying. Hell, in the case of one of my friends that came onboard with me, she was just happen to get along with guys better than girls and stayed out up until the last few minutes of curfew because she hated being on the ship, and she got lectures about "being a lady" from almost every damn chief and officer in her work center.

The crazy thing is...she's still a virgin!

The closest I ever came to meeting a female virgin (male virgins are more common - if they couldn't get layed in HS/College with a 50/50 mix of male + female, are they likely to get laid with a 10/90 mix?) was a young woman who just got married (husband stationed somewhere else) and did not have a boyfriend or three on the side. In fairness, she's bene here as long as I have --six months, most of which was spent at sea w/o lib ports--she's pretty shy (or thinks herself to be, at least), and told me that where she came from, she didn't get hit on much because she was too dark-sinned. Guys like her because she's not hung up and not the typical mad black woman, because she has enough self-respect not to fuck the first thing to give her attention, and she's a flirt without really having to try to be....something I've never` been good at. That is the basic question. It is also a question that people like EP and even those who oppose the repeal of DADT are unable to answer. Mostly because it doesn't significantly change anything.

Since it is against the rules (I assume, else Volpone wouldn't have phrased it as a concern) they will continue to keep it quiet, no?

Presently it is hard to work the heterosexual hook-up at boot camp because in the Marines men and women are in separate platoons. And it is hard to work the gay hookup because with DADT unless gays have some kind of secret signal they pass to each other you can't find out who else is gay. If people can be openly gay, suddenly Mike and Mark know that they are both gay, so when Mike heads for the bathroom, Mark knows to follow him there.

At this point the firewatch has to decide if they need to go to the bathroom to make sure nothing illicit is going on in there, which distracts them from their primary job, puts them in the position of walking in on gay buttsecks, and raises the issue of if he is discriminating by persecuting Mike & Mark.
