@Christopher has PM'd me on FB to tell me of the ban. I am please to see that Dinner's line crossing behaviour is beginning to be addressed. However, if he comes back and carries on acting like the racist, nasty weasel we know he is, I don't feel I can post with content like that on the board. I can't be associated with a constant stream of hate speech that denigrates a chunk of my client base and some of my close friends. I also, quite simply, find it deeply unpalatable. It's no different from knowing and caring about black friends and associates and then going to a place that is full of a daily stream of content raging on about "nigger monkey faced criminals" or some such. I did not wish to go, and I thought about it for months, with it all intensifying during the gtardo affair. But it was when I felt I had no support on the issue of Dinner's behaviuour and I felt I had to make a choice. Well, my choice is that I don't want to continue to be associated with racists and hate speech, for both professional and personal reasons. I really don't think that's unreasonable.

That Dinner has gone way over the top in the Help Desk thread with personal attacks against members and their loved ones, including racist attacks, shows you that he thinks he can get away it as and how he likes. When his ban ends I'll back out again and wait to see if his behaviour changes. If it doesn't then I'll stay away for as long as his constant, trolling, near daily hate bile continues to be condoned.

That you've tagged me three times in the space of a few hours suggests to me that it's more likely to be you "dying" to see me back.

Might have something to do with lawyers needing to keep themselves close for 'professional' reasons and you were out of sight for too long...

I have to agree that the blatant racism needs to go to places like storefront. Dinner was getting out of hand. I saw the image that was part of that last round of crap and it is distasteful. Things got out of hand. He went and spread that shit to the helpdesk and that is just wrong. I could get accidentally being harsh because you made a mistake and were in the wrong room. I did it a couple of days ago myself. Dinner went beyond warnings and he needs some time to cool off.

I do not think it is unreasonable. There seemed to be a few people who were coming in here just to say racist shit. If I really wanted to go have some fun I would go to stormfront and mock them. Wordforge has largely been community led change, so the question becomes why does the community want to tolerate such shit? How is there any entertainment value?

I think the fact that many people stay silent on what is clear and overt bigotry speaks more about them than any complaints about rules and supposed board oppression.

WF is and has always been very liberal in terms of it's tolerance of opinion. But there comes a time when it's clear that someone has dangerous views and is intent on spewing prejudice and hate, and to hell with who he or she offends, and when that happens a conversation needs to be had.

You know, I wouldn't care if Dinner actually backed up his claim of just having an issue with Islam, as being anti-religious I'd be interested in that debate. But he doesn't. He's a clear racist, and when challenged he refuses to engage and then has the audacity to claim that it's others who won't engage with him. I don't know what happened to him to turn him into what he is now, but it's abundantly clear that WF has become his go to place to unload his hate, and not just the owners, but the posters here need to decide whether or not they're prepared to keep propping up constant hate speech.

No offence Dicky, but some people have lives that have other priorities. The earliest I could see Rogue One was two and half weeks later during my Christmas vacation time, and that was just because it was the earliest after a busy December at work and family gathering that I could see it. What about those who have bills to pay and can't line up on opening night.

This isn't about the ignore feature. It's about posting on the board while the racist content is tolerated near daily. I've put other posters on ignore in the past, like Flashie and Ramen, when they were spam negging. I'll use the ignore feature when it works. But there are times when it doesn't paper over all cracks.
