The US economy is massively statist, lest we retread this delusion about free market economics yet again.

not a history expert but you sure fucked up the Irish back in the day. You didn't put them in camps, you just took all their land & rights.

That's not a thing, though there is a crisis with illegal immigration.
There are no concentration camps. And so many people crossing our borders illegally, there are bound to be many sick children among them. We do what we can, but their parents are ultimately to blame for putting them at risk.

Imagine what kind of mental gymnastics one would have to go through to get upset over regulating a tool that is specifically designed to kill and cause serious bodily injury.

If your only reason for not regulating firearms is because it's written down on a piece of paper, then you really have no argument.

Agreed and the consequences of that are still being felt today.

Yet for all the guns in NI it was sitting down and talking which made the peace process possible. Unfortunately that doesn't look like lasting if we carry on our current course.

    No.

There are concentration camps and you are doing nothing. No matter what happens you never will.

    Because it's a fantasy.

Not all firearms are designed to kill or cause serious bodily injury. In fact the rounds I have for my 12 gauge shotgun are legally "non lethal" rounds.

At least they are if you put the fire out quickly enough...

get over the gas lit straw men.
we've called for restrictions and to end sales of specific categories... few of us here or IRL are calling for confiscations, and indeed as for here, most of us have accepted there are exceptions to be made that we weren't aware of.

if you cared about keeping a tyrannical government in check, maybe you'd have done something bout those 300+ American CITIZENS rounded up in that ICE raid? Maybe you should do something about the likely thousands in internment camps and prisons all for not having identification on them.

    Don't give us that bullshit.

Every other developed nation on the planet seems to do just fine without more guns than people in it.

And as for the NVA or Taliban being able to stalemate the US, if that doesn't tell you that the worlds largest, most expensive standing military is a waste of blood and treasure on incompetence...

What happens when there is a mass murder and the weapon used is a pump action shotgun?

Or a lever action 30-30? (common big game rifle).
Or a bolt action 30-06? (common big game rifle).

I find the new history in which kids have been indoctrinated curious.

USSR was going to fall whatever the US did.

US wasn't really critical to turning tide of WWII.

The border centers are some kind of "concentration camps".

The right wing are worse than Hitler.

It's an old joke, but I prefer my alternate reality fiction a bit more subtle or obvious. Like Watchmen. Today's resistance left are obviously the Bajorans, except living in a Cardassian-free universe. Boo!

It was my joke once. Maybe twice.

If others stole it, I'm flattered.

Keep at cartooning a couple more decades and you might one day be in the same position (being flattered because someone copied something you created). Or maybe you're already there, I only bought your first volume. But if your creativity on WF is any gauge, you're still a niche taste.

I guess we'll cross that bridge IF we ever come to it. Although you point it out yourself that those are game rifles vs combat rifles and categorically different weapons built for separate purposes.

Of the top 25 mass shootings listed on wiki with 10 or more dead since 1949, only one used a shot gun as the primary weapon. Almost all of them include a semi automatic rifle and/or pistol.

Still, I suspect my positions based on capacity, RoF, background and registration won't change much either direction.

We have more guns in Australia now than we did before the Port Arthur massacre and the firearm restrictions that were brought in afterwards.

I'm not seeing a need to ban them in the first place. Registered, secured, and licensed, yes (which I've been pretty consistent on since dial-up).
Enforcement and meaningful penalties for existing laws, yes.

    Banning?

Never called for it because not seeing the statistical proof that the guns mentioned are the problem.

My point was what if those types of guns become commonly used weapons for mass murders?

It's a fantasy, all right. Just not mine.

I am completely untroubled by what you characterize (grossly incorrectly) as concentration camps. You're right: I'm not going to do one thing about them. I'm not even gonna write my Congressman.

You don't normally use a circular saw to cut curves. You use a jig saw or a scroll saw for them.

For the most part "circular saws" are high speed straight line cutters.

"You're a murderer. You haven't actually killed anyone yet, but you can't prove you won't murder someone eventually."

I'm not sure it's fruitful to argue with someone who would make a comparison, while acknowledging that the salient point of their own comparison is only hypothetical.
