    For a time a few years back, you could buy a semiauto reproduction imported from Germany by Recon Ordinance (they still sell parts for them). They were expensive, though, (around $5K, IIRC).

    Lots of oddball stuff in that part of the world. A buddy of mine uncovered a cache of weapons in Iraq that contained several dozen MG-42s.

    Well, the thing is, in Afghanistan, I'd assume it was a Pakistani copy. Those Pakistanis still make all those guns - and ammo for them. Who woulda known!
