I thought I'd start a thread about how people's days were going, and what you were doing with your lives. It's better than stalking my friends on Facebook - not that they have interesting lives either.

How was your day? What did you do today?

Today, I went to my business school and signed up for Friday's networking event/muffin club.

I also found this really good hot dog place and bought a Coney Island hot dog for lunch. It was good.

Then I went to check out this Martial Arts store on the east end of town. However, it was closed, even though their hours of operation said they are suppose to be open.

Beside it was this really huge used book store tucked away in a corner. That was a bit unusual. I wonder how places like that stay in business.

I stayed home for the second day this week because I am sick and apparently getting sicker before I get better. It's intriguing.

I watched the Godfather Part II.

    I've had worse.

I found out what classes my daughter needs for summer school (the school won't tell you until the classes are already filled...it's dog-eat-dog.)

Work was laid-back but not boring (a perfect balance.)

    I had spaghetti for dinner.

I'm watching Ghost Hunters....and then I think UFO Hunters is on after that.

Blackberries are ripe and tasty in my yard! :)

Easy (no shooting or editing involved at all) but tedious and somewhat boring.

With the exception of Friday (back to shooting for a day) I'm stuck with this assignment until the end of next week. :marathon:

Took the work van all around my area today. Got a lot done. Had a free lunch at a local casino (birthday coupon). Big-ass roast beef and pastrami sandwich. Took the other half home for dinner.

Got home and spend 3 hours pulling up all the fucking weeds in my lawn. I think I pulled around 300. Wonder how long I'll keep it up before I say fuck it and nuke then re-sod.

The other half of that sandwich was damn good after all that work. Now I'm watching Mythbusters and drinking a Miller Lite. :ramen:

Bunch of top-priority powerpoint presentations to get done all at the same time.

One is the 175 page financial plan, due for presentation to the mucky-mucks in about a week and a half. It's my responsibility to do the final "prettying up," which I thought I'd done already. But the retards running the show are causing me much stress with constant revisions, mind-changing, additions that require reformatting, etc. It's been continual all week, and will continue right up till it's due.

Second is a 20-page state-of-the-company presentation the president is giving to we employees at an all-hands meeting. Same due date, and probably the same amount of screwing around with it to be expected. Just started that one today, so it's embryonic.

And of course my VP interrupted in the middle of everything to work with me making a HR quad chart to present to the CEO. But I love working with her. We've always been good at bouncing ideas off each other. We've been doing this for almost 20 years now, going back to when she was just a minion in marketing.

Too much hi-profile stuff today. Makes me nervous.

Oh, and one of the HR managers nixed a harmless joke I'd included in a flyer for distribution. Thery're offering a trip to the Bronx Zoo for employees. I put a tiger on the flyer thinking "People! Yum!" The mananger told me to get rid of the word balloon. Can't have humor in an extracirricular event announcement, now can we? :jayzus:

I hate lawns. My parents have this one house that has a crab-apple tree in front of it. Because it's so near the city limits, deer, rabbits, mice, squirrels, chipmonks, gophers, elk, and the entire North American zoo come by and eat the apples.

This isn't that bad, until you realize every last one of them shit all over the fucking place! The property was literally covered in shit the entire winter.

This morning I was being utterly pathetic. There was a cat stalking through the garden with a fledgling songthrush in it's mouth. The dog ran after the cat, the cat dropped the bird, the dog picked up the bird, I shouted at the dog, the dog dropped the bird and I was left thinking "what do I do?".

It wouldn't survive if I left it. It wouldn't survive if I picked it up. I couldn't bring myself to kill it, so I popped it in a shoebox and took it to the vet to deal with.

Nature can be cruel, sometimes :(

I've been drugged for the past 4 days due to getting my wisdom teeth pulled. So, I can't remember much of what's happened, but the day has gotten better since my swelling went down. :D And I called out of work!!!

Today was day #4 of diahrea.
Also, I'm very fatigued and have a sore throat.

Last night I woke up screaming in horror from a nightmare!

Luckily my wife woke me up before I woke up the whole family.

So, things could be better I guess.

^Drink lotsa Gatoraide and keep hydrated!

Tomorrow will be outside my comfort zone. In a six-person department, four of them took a long weekend. It'll be just me and one of the word processors. No boss to act as a buffer between me and the higher-ups if they want something, and no fellow artist as a backup if things get hairy. I fear.

Scrubbed the kitchen and did laundry this morning, then fucked around until lunch. Had a Dagwood sandwich, cleaned myself up, then went to Target and the grocery store. Made dinner (smoked sausage, veggies, mac-n-cheese), then had a "people between jobs" meeting at church, of which I was the only actual unemployed person attending. But the pastor and one church member who is assisting were fairly helpful. Then home, surf the 'net, get the kids to bed, etc....

Tomorrow is a workout day, plus I need to hit the job search stuff hard in the morning. It's also my Youngest's 11th BDay tomorrow, so we'll probably go out to eat somewhere.

I helped some of the people loaning Vestas land for windmill construction move a fence all afternoon. Got a wicked sunburn, but damn it felt good being back in my comfort zone. For a few hours, it felt like I was back home on our ranch riding fence line.

    Interesting.
It seems I have been hired to take the official mugshot and team pictures of the alumni dept.
Ive already done HR (where I work) and done some for the summer schools programme (for which I got £100) and some for one of the colleges that is being rebuilt (for which I will allegedly get £100) and I might get paid for this job as well.

It seems buying a decent camera might end up paying for itself!

Today (meaning yesterday...but it's 4am..and I haven't slept yet..so I consider "today" what was actually yesterday) was pretty good. I slept in and got up around 11 and ate a bowl of cereal, then I sat outside with Nemo (new kitty) for a while just enjoying the day. I then went in and did homework until I got a call from a friend from school who said our loans were in, so we could go get our cameras. So she came and got me so we could just go do it together...
come to find out, there was a misunderstanding with the grant issue and my grant doesnt start until the Fall, so I did not get back as much as I thought and won't be able to get my camera til then.

After all that drama, I went to work. That went by very quickly mainly cause I closed with a close friend of mine. After work she and I went to Sonic and to Walmart with 3 of my best guy friends where we spent the majority of the time lounging in one of the guy's van just talking.

Now here I am...bored and actually finally getting tired. lol.

An exceptionally boring and tedious day.

With this temporary gig I'm doing, my job mainly consists of answering phones, listening to the police and fire scanners and entering/forwarding email press releases to the producers.

The rest of the time, I'm on the internet.

No wonder you folks who sit in front of a computer all day say that WF is slow lately. Normally, I'm in and out of the office all day and only get to check in periodically (if at all). There are usually a number of "new posts" when I do get to check in.

When you're on WF all day, though, there's hardly any "action" at all.

I went to Muffin Club today. I met quite a few people, and the cute graphic designer girl was there too.

Lots of people there that might need websites. I also had some A&W McMuffins for breakfast.

Starting off your day with a really good breakfast just seems to make the rest of your day better, IMHO!
