    My day:

My rotation with my team's on-call pager ended. - Good.

It's pay day. Knock out some bills, pay more of my share of the fireworks display equipment, pay for new PC parts, a complete change of all gearbox fluids in the Jeep. - Good.

Off at 3:00 this afternoon, don't come back until Tuesday. - Good.

Going out to eat and see Terminator tonight with some friends - Good.

So far it looks like I won't be cursing this day to the fiery pits of hell.

    Network's down again.
Only two of us here today - we're considering scampering early. Hell, we can't do any work!

Like fucking shit. Someone abused our cat, we now have to put it down and about 1/2 hour. Three bawling kids, me in the mood for some hunting of a different sort. Other than that, just fucking wonderful

    How terrible.

My day was pretty good . . . got more done at work than I thought I would. And it was a beautiful afternoon with [mostly] gentle winds right down the runway, and the airport was busy.

Good day. Started out by going downtown to get my mail and ship off a shirt I'd ordered that didn't fit. Then headed up to Mt. Hood to ski the Palmer Glacier for 5 hours. Home for a pizza, beer, and quick nap before jumping on the motorcycle to hang out at happy hour with some friends.

Since I was on the motorcycle and I was insanely dehydrated from skiing I limited myself to a lemonade and about a gallon of water. Then it was a hot bath to recover from the chilly ride home.

My ex housemate wanted me to help fix a computer that his new housemate is trying to build as a favour to his ex housemate...
The computer problem was worse than trying to understand the relationship of the favours involved.
Went over at about 6pm after at least 10 phone conversations during the day to talk them through troubleshooting... just got home at 1 am.... problem still not solved.

Ya, I did..but it's not an SLR, so they won't accept it or any pictures from it at my school. I can somewhat understand that, I suppose...

but the way they told me was totally unnecessary. My teacher got really smart with me...like he was better than me and he laughed at me and told me it was a toy. :( A lot of my teachers are like that.

    Sounds like a shitty teacher.

I have both an SLR and the model you have. The features on both are about the same. You can even control shutter speed with the small one, apparently.

It sounds like a dumb class, but that's par for course. Sometimes school is more about how many hoops they try and make you jump through rather than actually learning anything useful.

I got a little sunburned. I forgot to put sunscreen on my face before going skiing, so now I have a red face with white aviator sunglass lens eyes.

Today was spent getting a proposal together for a client, then watching Terminator: Salvation.

I also had a mail lady come by today and deliver a package: Two R4i cards for the Nintendo DS that I ordered about a week ago. These are for homebrew and :pirate:cy.

Not too good! Somebody changed the lock on a door at work, and I couldn't work on the equipment I needed to. And my son had just dropped me off, so I was pretty much stranded. I took a lengthy nap and made the best of it. It was a holiday, so the dudes with the new keys weren't there.
Then, I lost mybest pair of glasses. Hey, it's happened before...that's why I have a spare set.

    My day went well.

A friend stayed the night (Whitney, for those of you who have seen the thread in the Red Room). She has been wanting to make an account on here, so she made one really really really early this morning before we had even went to bed.

When we woke up we got ready and went and had lunch with Bs stepmom, who is lending me her camera until I get my financial aid, in July. Hers is a Nikon D40. I like it. :)

We then went to the mall for a while. I ended up getting really cranky and tired...and well...quite frankly very bitchy. The 5 hours of sleep that I had gotten from the night before was worn off and i was ready for sleep. So B and I headed to his house, where I slept for about 2 hours while he ran errands for his mom. When I got up, I studied the rest of the afternoon while B cooked dinner. It's one of our new dishes that his mom loves. Veggie stir fry with teryaki and roasted cashews.
Ours is zucchini, baby carrots, squash, green peppers, water chestnuts, and mushrooms all fried together in oil and teryaki sauce. You lay it all on a bed of white rice and sprinkle the roasted cashews on top.
    So delicious.

Then, while we ate we watched the movie Crazy/Beautiful with Kirsten Dunst. I love that movie. :) It gets to me every time. Plus, it just shows Kirsten Dunsts awesome acting abilities.

Now I'm home...up way too late. It's after 1am and I have to be up at 6:30 at the latest. :( Tonight was just a good night.

^ That recipe is pretty good. I am impressed. ^_^

I do one similar to it, except it's not as elaborate as yours. Mine is just strips of Alberta Beef, white mushrooms, thick Teriyaki sauce, and sesame seeds, all stir fried in a skillet. Then pour it over brown rice and add chopped carrots, lettuce, peas, and bean sprouts on top of it. It works pretty good with honey garlic sauce too.

My day has been sort of crappy. Our cat just threw up earlier in Mom's bedroom. He had accidentally gotten into some milk of mine(there was only a little drop or two in there!) and literally threw up all over her blanket. Then I got accused of leaving my stuff out for him to get. It's not MY fault the cat gets in there. He should KNOW not to do it!

Woke up late. Morning shower had to be sacrificed. Oh, well. I shower twice daily, so it was really just the luxury of helping me wake up.

Slammed at work. Short a couple of the people currently devoted to this one particular client. The Tandem and network are having intermittent problems, and every goddamned one of the specs I'm getting is unworkably wrong in some way.

Donating plasma tonight, so no workout, but my skeleton feels like it could use some recovery time anyway. Just have to remember to rehydrate before I start pounding down my sleepytime beers.

Day has been good and bad.

The guy I'm supposed to be trading my truck for his car with was at work earlier this morning, but has since dissappeared. Also, his phone's off.

So, I'm waiting for him to come back so I can mount the tires onto the rims he has for his car. I'm hoping he shows up sometime before 5.

Other than that, nothing bad has happened and it's been a pretty relaxing day at work so far.

Gah. Brain is melting. I've got about 5 different things I should be doing and attempting to prioritize them is just giving me more things to do--"So what is my 'focus of effort'? OOH! I should write an article on 'Focus of Effort'!"

Did take a break to pick up the roommate's dog from the groomers, then ride around on the motorcycle a bit and stop off at the neighborhood gun store.

Day before and yesterday at work were so crappy ---- hitting my head against the wall was the only way to feel better.

Last night was worse because the flipping doc didn't want to get out of the sack and do what the doc is supposed to do - namely reevaluate a patient that is acting/looking really bad.

Fortunately I have decent supervisors who sit behind me and help get some stuff done to get the patient to the unit where the right support and help could be given.

Stopped over at a friends last night for martini night. We finished off my bottle of Bruichladdich. My friend works aviation support and is fond of Hangar One Vodka, so on the way over I picked him up some Aviation Gin, distilled right here in Portland.

    It was fucking good.

I dunno if I buy that it was gin, but it was damned tasty. Ordinarily I like a martini with a fair amount of vermouth and I very very rarely drink a pure gin martini (I usually do gin & vodka together) but this stuff was great. Just chill it, pour it into a martini glass, drop in an olive and enjoy.

A decent evening of bullshit and booze, augmented by grilled ribs, corn on the cob, and homemade potato salad. :techman:

[Oh, then when I got home I watched "The Wrath of Khan". :diacanu: ]

Quiet day at work for me yesterday. Slightly annoying that, of the three jobs I have in process, I kept getting continual revisions via email. Every time I'd get one done, they'd send another. Makes you feel like you're being jerked around, but it's just the revision process (as run by people with shitty planning skills).

Today has been busy/hectic, but productive until about an hour ago. Came in at 7:30am to continue working on the Emmy entries and worked solid all day long until the server crashed while I was in the middle of dumping the stories entries onto tape.

I've been at a standstill since then, but a couple of engineers are here now and should hopefully have it back up and running shortly.

I still have a day's work ahead of me.
