Purchased my Kimber Custom TLE II today, plus 3 McCormick Power mags!

Can't wait to get to the range. In the mean time, I'll enjoy taking it apart and obsessing over everything.

I'll get some pics up as soon as I can buy a new cable for my camera. Cat chewed the old one in half.

Oh and this is the first pistol I've ever owned myself.

Be careful that the mainspring doesn't fly out and bonk you on the forehead. :ramen:

Yeah you were a little late with that sage piece of advice:). Shot the plug into the ceiling and off the fan. Took me a good while to find it. Also had a hell of a time getting the slide stop out, but finally managed to get everything apart and back together again. I haven't attempted to do a detail strip like you've got there though.

Were you trying to take it out before removing the recoil spring?

I got a little too excited. Started the disassembly while reading the directions instead of reading the directions and then starting the disassembly. I'm sitting there reading "turn the bushing clockwise *POW* . . . holy shit!".

No, it was just really in there good. The recoil spring had no trouble removing itself into the ceiling right away, so it was definitely out before I started with the slide stop. But it's all good now. I did it twice and the second time it (slide stop) came out much easier.

Oh.. you did that with the recoil spring! I was talking about the mainspring. Those things are in there really REEEALLLY tight. More likely to go part way through your ceiling than bounce off it. :)

Heh. You know them biohazard labs they have in sci-fi movies? I'd like to make a prop like that for gun disassembly. Have a gun-sized box, with a heavy plexiglass lid on it. Then have a couple holes with attached gloves. To take the gun apart you put it in the box and work on it inside (put any tools you need in the box as well. That way, when whatever sneaky little spring (in my case the ejector spring for an M14) pops out, you don't spend two hours sweating, cursing, and tearing your garage/living room apart.

That's a recent picture, eh? I note the lack of a front sight.

Not sure what you mean. There is definitely a front sight in the picture. It came with Meprolight night sites.

    Oh me?

No, that's actually an old picture. You'll notice there's no rear sight either. ;)

That's before I got the standard front and rear sights, then replaced them with the Trijicons, then almost immediately the front Trijicon fell off. :(

Reminds me of a story about someone who had a friend, but then the wheels fell off.
