Well, at least enough to get a concealled carry in that state, and probably enough to get a hunting permit in the same state. That's at least 10-12 days in my area. So three days is hardly sufficient.

Secondly, YOU DON"T SEND IN HIGHLY TRAINED SWAT MEMBERS. You send in someone with similar experience to the gunmen we've already seen. Which means minimal training.

Thirdly, as you seem to need to ignore: YOU DO NOT TELL THE "SHOOTER" WHO IS ARMED. That's completely unrealistic. In a real school shooting, the gunman would have zero advanced notice that there would be guns, let alone know which student had a gun.

This isn't science. This is nonsense. And unless they're willing to do REAL SCIENCE they can STFU.

I will change my position if and when a real experiment shows what this rigged one does.

Where does this "highly trained swat members" come from? The guy was a firearms instructor.

In PA (where the experiment took place) no training is necessary for concealed carry.

In GA (where I'm from) no training is required.

It wasn't a game of who gets shot first: all the student had to do is score a hit that would have disabled the shooter. None of them came close. The one that had the most experience, 100s of hours, didn't fire a shot.

The fact the students were all shot multiple times "lethally" isn't relevant. None of them realized they'd been hit. What is relevant is they were ineffective. All of them.

How much do you want to rig this?

    Huh?

Lemme put it another way. There's an IDPA league at the range down the road from me. Now I'm not saying that IDPA shooting is the end all of combat training...it's not...but If you'd have put five of those guys in that experiment, I guarandamntee you at least three would have tagged the shooter.

You keep touting this guy as "experienced" talking about 100s of hours. I'm asking, hundreds of ours of what exactly? How did they verify this? Did they just ask him?

Well, there's Frontline, Elwood, ShootER, Volpone, Apostle, and me.

That's to varying degrees and right off the top of my head. I probably missed a few.

Besides military and police, what kind of training? Would college students typically get this in GA and PA that require none for concealed carry permits?

Are you in favor of mandatory training nationally in order to get a concealed carry permit? How much? More than 3 days?

I told you. Tactical training. For myself, I've taken two tactical handgun classes, and one tactical carbine class. Over the course of them they've dealt with proper mindset, drawing from concealment, shooting and moving, multiple attackers, use of cover and concealment, low light and no light, high stress situations, a shit-TON of malfunction drills, and talking about the physiology of a gunfight...stuff like tunnel vision, auditory exclusion, loss of fine motor skills. I've also shot in a few IDPA matches. I wouldn't call it ADVANCED training, and I by no means consider myself an "operator", but you said training.

Would they, or could they?

If the former, how the hell should I know? If the latter, yes...absolutely.

Problem with that is the fedgov doesn't issue carry permits that I'm aware of. IMHO, anyone who owns or carries a gun for self defense should take as many training classes as often as they can afford. I'm not so sure about making it manditory though.

Well you've convince me, Dingbat. After all, there aren't ANY college students that are veterans--certainly not with combat experience. In fact I don't recall meeting any when I went back to school for an advanced degree--even after I took a break to go serve in Iraq during OIF.

    Dumbass.

I have training, though to be honest the Air Force didn't teach me much that I didn't already know - mostly I learned servicing the Beretta can be a little tricky and that I would have rather been using an M1911, but I digress. I also happen to be a student at a "gun free" university right now.

Don't be ridiculous, Captain X. You are a student. It is inconceivable that you would've been in the military. Dingbat says so.
