[Link] I just saw the advertisement for this five minutes ago, with "dramatic experiments" of average people who are armed responding to a shooter. Frankly, I don't have much hope from Diane "Why Won't Washington Do Something About Guns?!" Sawyer, but I figured someone might want to watch.
Also, here's the preview: http://abcnews.go.com/2020/story?id=7298996&page=1 "Carrying a Gun Wouldn't Necessarily Get You Out of a Shooting", as if anyone was under the delusion that a gun would magically protect you from all harm.
Weapons give you the ability to kill people more easily. How you use that, and what that means is up to you.
Im glad I live in a country where the chances of me ever seeing any gun of any kind for any reason are close to nil. Unless I choose so of course.
Beautiful, two random students with minimal range time are the ultimate reason about why the "crack, trained police" should only be allowed to carry handguns. Sigh, I miss Peter Jennings. I guess it's NBC for me.
Oh, I ain't even gonna consider watching another "fair" network gun special. I betcha the final scene is a great big ominous negative statement with fear-inducing background music.
No, but people are, and often talentless and untrustable with 'objectes requiring skill' as well... Look at apostle for instance, the base American gun owner. I wouldn't trust him to open a can of beans that was already open
You were trying to tie down a very specific argument, without giving many clues as to what your point was. For those who dont live in gun saturated cultures, whats your point?
My gun ownership means that if Dan and I ever have a face-to-face discussion, I will always be right. Of course with Dan, I don't really need a gun to always be right.
Let me guess. To demonstrate the "ineffectiveness" of guns, the producers of the show will stack everything against the pro-gun side: 1. Use relatively unskilled persons. 2. Create a sudden/surprise attack scenario that is virtually impossible to defend. 3. Use "perpetrators" who know the attack is staged, and who thus can be more brazen than any real perpetrator ever would be. Instead of doing this, why didn't they interview a few of the people profiled every month in American Rifleman who *DID* manage to defend themselves with handguns. Sounds like a standard leftist media hit piece. No balance, no opposing viewpoint, and the deck firmly stacked to give the "right" answer. Also, a parade of crying "gun victims" to further tug at the heartstrings while safely bypassing the brain...
I could chase away the babies, shoot some dogs with rabies, havin' lots of fun..... And their heads would be gushin' and the ambulance a rushin' If I only had a gun. I'd unravel every noggin'......
Um, that's pretty much the way it is here. Except that the police all carry guns. But there have only been a couple times I've seen a cop actually draw his weapon. Believe me, it's entirely possible to live your whole life in the U.S. and never see a gun of any kind, other than maybe in the holster of a police officer, unless you choose so of course. You might want to be more careful about relying on stereotypes for information.
Nope. All you need is your dick. That alone makes you right in anything when standing next to Mr.Eunuch.
OK, you all know that I agree with you on the gun-rights issue. But I have to say that this is a legitimate question. A lot of people do talk as if having a gun will improve any situation, and I think "will having a gun necessarily protect you?" is a topic worth examining.
