I can't believe I just used the verb "tapped" in a sentence involving Obama and Hillary, but, if Obama had picked Hillary for VP, do you think he would have been doing better, worse, or about the same in to polls. I am asking because I still know people, personally, in real life (not to mention people I bump into online, or hear speak on the radio or tv) who are still so bitter over Hillary not winning, or not at least being given the VP spot, that they won't vote for Obama...and may not vote for anybody. Would Obama, by picking Hillary, who is - to say the least - devisive...have lost more votes then he would have won by roping in these disaffected Hillary supporters? Most these un-won-over Hillary supporters seem to give some vague distrust of Obama as reason for not supporting him. Not "I think he's a terrorist", or "I think he will X"...just a "Well...I don't know what it is...I just don't really trust him." Could that be residual feeling distrust that Hillary herself engendered in them when she went negative on Obama? (And act that probably cost her the VP nom...)
If Obama had tapped Hillary... His would have been the first administration to have "food taster" as a cabinet post.
If Obama had "tapped" Hillary for VP, he would find himself in the White House come January. And by March he would find himself with a bullet to the brain as the Clintons pull off their coupe de tat.
Definitely lower. The press hates Hillary Clinton, but it's pretty neutral about Biden. McCain would have gotten a lot of free negative advertising with a Clinton pick. In any event, there are a lot more people in the middle of the electorate who have an irrational fear of Clinton than there are people dumb enough to throw a hissy fit and vote for that idiot McCain just because their first choice of Veep wasn't picked. Anyone who thinks Clinton was actually a good pick for President thinks Obama's a better pick than McCain. The people claiming to be pissed off about Clinton not being on the ticket are people who never really liked either Clinton or Obama, were voting McCain with or without Clinton on the ticket, and who are habitual democrats looking for an excuse for that vote.
I agree. I breathed a great sigh of relief when Biden was chosen. If Hillary had been the VP, this wouldn't even be a race.
I think Obama would have been better off. Hillary brings more to the table and the people that really, really hate her weren't gonna vote Democrat anyway. And she could have wiped the floor with Palin in the debate without having to hold back. But I have a feeling she wouldn't take the offer. She wants nothing less than the top spot. She would never settle for VP.
Hillary would've been a far more dangerous opponent than Biden. And we can assume that Senator McCain would've made a different VP choice, in which case, this would be a different race entirely.
I move that bryce be permabanned for using the words "Hillary" and "tapped" in such a way that it brings up bad mental images.
If Obama had tapped Hillary.... ....his body would be found headless and drained of blood, their children born with curly horns and smelling of sulfur...
With Hillary in the mix, the themesong of this election would be yakkity sax. It would've been too much, reality would break, and turn into a cartoon. Fuck, I'm not too sure it hasn't happened already.
If he had tapped Hillary, I would have hoped he would do her up the ass. Cuz nothin says lovin like sodomy.
