...the longest tunnel ever built by the human race will be finished! Ok, not really finished, but the last wall will be penetrated! Take a look, for example here: http://genevalunch.com/blog/2010/10...nderground-at-the-gotthard-tunnelers-to-meet/ I think it's great and I am really proud of all the engineers, the small workers, my country and of mankind in general. We STILL can do such things, even in times like this were all huge projects are destroyed by all kinds of paper-shufflers... Sorry, have to go and watch the historical event on TV in 20 minutes...
awesome! But one thing......I know Europe has the metric system and all, but what kind of measurement is 3 double-A batteries and 1/2 hour? :jealous: Regardless, I did enjoy the drive from Germany to Italy via Austria. Great scenery the whole way.
http://www.spiegel.de/video/video-1089343.html History! When the first guy came through with the Saint Barbara in his hands, all these tough miners from all nations cried like children.
Its amazing how technology has changed things. There wasnt so much clapping at the moment of breakthrough (but it built up) because everyone was videoing it on their mobile phones
Now it's time for the EU, especially Germany and Italy, to build more railways... We are building this thing as a gift for the rest of Europe, now our neighbours must follow. This tunnel was built not with a decade, but with centuries in mind... However, if artificial gravity is finally discovered, the whole thing will be useless! Some infos: Length: 57 kilometers Two pipes, two emergency stations, cross cuts each 325 meters Cost: 20 billion Euro... :flow2: I admit that I for once are a very proud citizen of my country today!
