Can you be any more transparent? The guy who berates @Spaceturkey for the work he does suddenly feels bad for criminal labor? Bull. Shit.
Prison Labor happens to be a mixed bag. Large numbers of prisoners do not have people on the outside to give them commisary and without that they cannot get things like toothpaste, underwear, and any food outside of what is served to them. The poor people who are in there need to work to earn things that are not provided to them. Life in prison is also extremely boring and prisoners often want a job to break up the day. It actually can make them better prisoners who do not spend all day every day with their thoughts on how to get the fuck out. Some of the jobs prisoners have are cleaning up their spaces and cooking which would require access to the facilities for workers which makes the facilities less secure over all. The belongings prisoners earn through working are a means of control. If you do not have any belongings and personal food to take away when you misbehave, then the prison has considerably less means to demand compliance. I think some of the external jobs done by the prisoners are taking away from jobs with DOT and other government services, we would be paying more all around to get these jobs done. That being said by giving prisons to for profit business we screw almost everyone including taxpayers.
given how much he advocates for a presumption of criminality based on things like being a child of divorce or incarceration for being poor/sick, this is a new level of blindly lashing out.
Interesting article, especially the only part that quotes her and not the department: That doesn't excuse it, a captain is responsible for their ship, ACAB, and all that, but this piece isn't the slam dunk you seem to be presenting it as, other than another piece on the massive pile of evidence for how the US prison system and mentality towards incarceration is inherently fucked.
Worth highlighting: Harris' reaction was contemporaneous, not something she just pretended to be against once she was running for president. Surprise surprise, Uncle Albert is being dishonest.
They are not technically wrong. This is where the problem comes for the use of non-violent prisoners for work. If you have them cleaning up the parks and doing general work for DOT and you lose that workforce you can get by. If you are in the middle of a present emergency fire season and those people go away you might not be able to immediately fill the gap when you need the gasp filled right then because the fires do not wait. In this case the argument should be that you need to transition away from prisoners in emergency work due to these logistical problems. Just for a little note, it would probasbly be hard to put new prisoners into those positions because the prison system takes time to vet the prisoners and classify who can work outside of the jail. It took a couple of months even as a non-0violent short time offender to be placed on work outside of the prison once convicted. Harris did not make this problem, and it is clear that the immediate release of prisoners was a legitimate concern given how the employment of those prisoners was maintained. It is not wrong to sound the alarm over the effect of release on a project that had immediate consequences that needed to be addressed. Yes, the prisoners were getting screwed, however if they decided to let the prisoners go the state would have to do very fast things to replace them with volunteers or paid workers. I am just trying to explain how prison work situations work since the articles seem to not have the full story. It is still bad, but I am pretty sure the Ag is not in charge of the prison system. If she were a warden or part of the DOC administration regarding prisons this would be different.
Read the goddamn article, fucktard. This wasn't just prison labor. This was prolonging the sentences of non-violent offenders to continue using them as labor. If anyone is OK with that, I don't need to hear a single fucking thing from you about abusive authoritarianism.
He has human lie detector powers, but they only work on liberals. If he aims his detector at conservatives, he blacks out like a Westworld android.
I did read it. Like Bailey said, Harris has responded to it multiple times. I'm not saying I agree with the way prisoners are treated in that article. I don't. I'm just saying you are full of shit. You have never once, ever, demonstrated any concern for how prisoners are treated. In fact, it's mostly been the opposite. So if you expect anyone to believe you are motivated strictly by altruistic concern for the incarcerated, you are grossly mistaken. As for Harris? She's Said multiple times she opposes it. She admitted it shouldn't have happened. That already puts her leagues ahead of Donald "I have never made a mistake, ever, for any reason" Trump. It's very telling that you actually think SHE'D be more of a fascist than Donald "J6" Trump.
You don't have the faintest fucking idea what I think about prisons, the judicial system or law enforcement, and I am not responsible for what you choose to believe in absence of evidence.
Okay, so, all I have to go on is what you post here. Therefore, if you don't want people to think you're an authoritarian bootlicker, post things which won't indicate that.
I have posted PLENTY that undermines that bullshit narrative. Am I going to repeat it all every goddamn time a marginally relevant topic comes up? Hell goddamn no. You can ask, or use the search function, but your assumptions are your fucking problem.
I’m sorry, but if I don’t get to tell you what to do, then you don’t get to tell me what to do. Ya don’t like it? Sucks to be you.
OK, tell us what you think about prisons, the judicial system or law enforcement. The floor is yours. If you don't mention something and we pick you up on it, we'll give you a chance to clarify. All nice and polite.
You're constrained by your perpetually hypocritical application of your already bullshit pseudo-philosophy. If pointing that out antagonizes you, good. Cry blood.
Maybe we can narrow the scope a bit there. This is what I'm talking about. These things cannot be reduced to "for" or "against. " For example, I can be opposed to for-profit, privatized prisons, while still insisting some people belong there forever.
My philosophy, not your dishonest portrayal of it. You're just repackaging that "your words actually mean what I say they mean" nonsense you seem to think passes for discourse. Gains you nothing.
Fuck yourself. The inside of your head is a series of funhouse mirrors. You're like fucking Cartman. If I were the deluded one, everyone would side with your ass. Everyone fucking hates you.
You sound like a mean girl, getting territorial about her sand box. Have a juice box and calm down, princess.
Don't worry, snookums. The big mean authoritarian liberals won't toss you out like a belligerent drunk at a bar. Even though that's basically what you are. We'll keep you as a bozo bag. You seem to like that for some fucked up reason.
I like it when @Diacanu acts all tough, it's adorable. Just want to pat him on the head, scratch his tummy and give him a treat
I'd say the same about UA, except you know if you go anywhere near his tummy he's gonna pop that tiny lipstick out and pant.
