Last week or so, the Today Show actually did a sob story on Paterno. Can you believe that? They spent like ten minutes talking about how disappointed and upset he felt over being abruptly fired, after he'd done so much for the organization, but he was going to try to be the better man about it and blah blah blah.
Skin's "the uproarious library farter." Jeez, you knock one librarian to the floor, sit on her face and cut loose a 20-second growler...
Yes, it will be a good day when he's no longer on the earth. He didn't do the deed, but he's been lying about how much he knew since day one. He knew, and he preferred to protect his 'legacy'. Well, he has a legacy now.
If, however, you win a hundred football championships, this country is full of lunatic sports fans who will forgive you for damn near anything as long as you worked for the right team.
He's scum. I'll be happy when he's dead. http://online.wsj.com/article/SB10001424052970204443404577052073672561402.html There's an email in 2005 from the Dean of Student Affairs who was trying to clean up the program: This is the icon of morality that Penn State near deified?
I hope that you re-read your own words here and apply them to Roman Polanski and maybe you'll get why so many people got testy when you were supporting him a few years ago.
Actually, it sure seemed like a troll at the time. But if you troll child rape, you tend just to troll yourself.
He's just trying to wash his hands of the stain he picked up back then. He doesn't believe any of this shit he's saying.
This weekend I was trying to watch "World's Strongest Man" (I rarely watch anything other than MMA, but I like lifting) but it was preemted for some BS Joe Paterno retrospective. Fuck that clown!
Serious question for 14th Doctor: how is arguably knowing about a sexual predator, working for you, somehow worse than being the person who actually drugged and sodomized a 14 year old girl?
Well, since it's a serious question.... Polanski raped one girl, confessed to it, willingly stood trial, then finally fled the country when he found out about serious misconduct on the part of the judge and prosecutor handling his case. (That's the same misconduct the prosecutor admitted to decades later in a filmed interview, and the same misconduct that led France to not extradite Polanski this summer.) Basically, he ran away from a crooked trial. Paterno actively worked to shelter a serial rapist for over a decade, protecting Sandusky from the authorities while he raped countless boys countless times. Then when the authorities finally discovered it, he managed to avoid any sort of criminal charges by trading on his reputation. Both Polanski and Paterno are richly deserving of condemnation, and I condemn both of them, but all things considered, I'd much rather have Polanski coaching my kids little league team than Zombie Paterno.
Ah yes, so crooked that he was being handed a sentence far more lenient than any normal person would have been handed in the same circumstances.
It varies from state to state, but most people have to serve years, as in more than one, in prison followed by more years on probation, in addition to having their name added to the sex offenders list for the rest of their lives. Hell, most people would get that just for having kiddie porn, without ever having raped a kid themselves the way Polanski did.
If you really want to talk about this, start a new thread about it, and I'll gladly post in it. I'm not going to continue shitting up random threads with this topic.
