Elwood, I understand what you said about different jurisdictions wanting to try people - the guy and his bride in Oz, for example. I also understand EP is an idiot. :|

That said, I think it is dangerous for governments to try people for things that happen outside of their jurisdiction. It might not be dangerous in practice now, but the principle that it establishes is dangerous - the principle that national sovereignty doesn't exist, even for our allies, and the principle that double jeopardy only exists if the courts are ours. We take a marriage license from Australia to be valid. We take a divorce from Australia to be valid. We find their court and legal system valid enough to have an extradition treaty with them. So, after someone has served time or been found not guilty, all the sudden things change?

The places something like that could go scare me.

Don't get me wrong, its easy to find satisfaction from this in the case of this dutch murdered we're all in a tizzy about. I myself find that satisfaction. But sometimes the things that "satisfy" us are the things we need to be wary about.

Elwood, you've told us what is actually happening, but you haven't told us how you feel about it personally. I'm curious.

I am still astonished that a number of women said they wanted to marry this guy even when he was already in jail. One chick actually did marry him and she had a kid.

Not really, these women are just crazy.

It's not bad boys so much as confident men who go after what they want.

No doubt there is some of that, see Aenea's suggestion that they are crazy. More likely, though, they buy in to the idea that the prisoner isn't guilty. Keep in mind, crazy can explain quite a lot.

    This, too.

But young, idiot girls go into relationships wanting to change and mold a man (or boy, as the case often is) into what they want him to be. That's just not possible.

The smart women figure that out but a ton of them never do. He has four kids with four different women? He will be different with me!

They're now saying he actually stabbed himself. Probably wanted a ticket out of there. Let him rot.
