And--correct me if I'm wrong--that was the origin of the "You Can't Use Real Names Unless The Poster Has Posted It On WF Themselves" rule, right?

    Hmm...

Y'all please feel free to correct me. But, outside of media outlets, haven't we always used revelation at WF for the basis of determining whether or not personal information had been shared?

After all, I disciplined Tamar when she posted Actormike's LJ and removed the links as soon as I found out about it. In fact, the only reason she's still here is because I got a solemn promise that it'd never happen again, and to date, it hasn't.

Garamet, you've done this before. I told you that if you ever did it again, you were gone. So, have you done it again? I'll have to think about this.

    You are correct.

I was not banned because it was the incident that spurred the actual rule and punishment for it.

I was kicked off the staff, initially permanently, but was reinstated after a week because it was decided it wasn't fair since the rule didn't exsist until after.

She is just trying to find any way to deny culpability. Again...just like with the initials in the signature thing a couple months ago, :jayzus:

You made a claim, now back it up.

What I've done is Googled "Peter Octavian" and come up with a site anyone else could find.

If there's a rule against that, I'm unaware of it. Can you link me to it?

She hasn't done anything if she can post a link to the thread where Peter posted his name on WF.

I'm still waiting, as I'm sure you are, but I think we both know such a link doesn't exist. Because we both know garamet is a lying sack of shit.

Just gets me that she a claim, and then not back it up. The issue with Cass could have been solved had she either posted a link to where Kirk posted his name on WF, or should could have apologized for breaking the rules. Same thing with Garamet.

But instead we're going to have another shit-flinging trolling fest that will feature Garamet accusing Tamar of breaking the rules, and not realizing this has nothing to do with Tamar.

I don't know if this makes any difference, but I'd like to go on record since this involves the use of my personal info:

If I were to have a say in deciding the matter, I would cast my vote for giving her a skate on it.

I play hardball on Wordforge, so I expect that I'm going to get hit with the bat on occasion. I'm not going to cry about it, nor am I going to call for her head.

It's my two cents....and, of course (as usual), that's about what it's worth.

Okay - you used Google to find his real name.
    Is it here on WF?

What Cass did was post information about a poster that cannot be Googled, information that one would only know if one had access to a poster's offline identity.

    God, you're a dumb bitch.

What Cass did was post personal information that was NOT on WF. THAT Was the problem, and because of her refusal to accept that fact she was banned.

But the googled information is not on WF, is it? And he didn't post it here himself, did he?
Therefore, even though you've found all this information, according to the rules, you can't post it here.
    Period.
That shouldn't be too hard for anyone who can read to understand.

Gee, I'm so glad I have you here to explain everything to me.

    Are you finished?

Do you mind if I wait for Elwood and/or Tamar - you know, someone actually in charge - to weigh in now?

    Is that okay?

    Exactly.

Anyways, since there is no link....I'm back to work. Have a good night everyone.

Is there a rule about this? That's all I'm asking.

If there is, it shouldn't be all that difficult for someone to say "Here's where it's written down, right here."

Okay, before the ax falls, it should be noted that:

    • I first linked to the page I found on Peter Octavian *six days ago*, and people are only retroactively getting upset about it now

I have never received a single warning, but there's a suggestion that I'm on the verge of being banned

    Fascinating...

I think the reason everyone keeps forgetting this rule -- including mods in Cass' first Help Desk thread -- is that it doesn't make any sense.

The rule is supposedly there to protect posters' privacy, but when the poster himself gives out the information in a source where every wordforger is likely to see it, then although it's not on WF itself, obviously the poster's identity is not protected and the poster doesn't want to protect it.

So the rule just becomes an arbitrary line in the sand daring members to cross it. The very spirit of censorship is to control speech for control's own sake, lacking any ulterior motive. And WFers are the type that doesn't like such rules.

Yeah, you never know what the rules are, do you? Like when you revealed that I was lurking here, using information from your mod CP.

Innocent little garamet. It's *never* your fault.

Kick her ass out of here. This place would improve a thousandfold.

    Sure. It's right here.

When asked about that specific rule (here), I gave one exception. Does this fall within that exception?

Why is anyone playing Garamets game?

We all know she's the most arrogant person in the universe...far above all of us....She also isn't as stupid as she plays at times.

She's trying to get the mods and admins and everyone else caught in some little technicality so she can claim a "gotcha".

Hardly. Peter Octavian isn't in the public eye.

Margaret positively reveled in her fame, until people started using what she had revealed about her real life against her.

Damn....watching Margaret desperately flail about like the T-1000 in the molten steel at the end of T2....this is just pathetic. :jayzus:

#1 - Jack Donner is not a member of Wordforge (unless he's here covertly). To use some legal reasoning I'm sure you won't comprehend, you have no standing to argue an alleged violation of *his* online "privacy."

#2 - Jack Donner is a public figure, arguably more public than you are, given his career as a character actor who has appeared in numerous productions. Mentioning his name here is no more a violation of his "privacy" than mentioning David Hasselhoff's name, or Russel Crowe's, or Walter Koenig's. Linking to an outside website run by a public figure is no more a violation of that person's "privacy" than linking to Sean Hannity's website/forums, or Brannon Braga's website/forums, or Peter David's website/forums.

So anything that's freely available with a simple little Google search is off limits?

Well, then, so much for LibertarianForge.

You'd better follow up on your threat and ban me, Boss.
