Working up a tech-manual style book of my kitbash designs, and veeeerrrry slowly doing orthographic drawings (in CorelDRAW) of the models. Idealized versions, in some cases. Y'all have probably seen the ones I already have in my wallpapers on my website. Here are the ones I've done over the last few months.
And a space station made out of flying saucer models. The physical models are all here: http://www.inpayne.com/models/kitbash/trekpage.html
What the delta-shaped one? These are all drawings of models I've already built! http://www.inpayne.com/models/kitbash/trekpage_artemis.html
^At least the model doesn't take up much shelf space. http://www.inpayne.com/models/kitbash/trekpage_ascender.html
USS Masao Single-engine destroyer based on a photomanip by Warped 9 at TBBS, which was inspired by a ship in Masao's Star Fleet Muesum. Props to those guys. I translated it into plastic here: http://www.inpayne.com/models/masao1.html The experimental Ferris camo was of course pointless, but fun.
The folks at TBBS were curious about the way i build the drawings in a vector program, so I broke that last one up to show them, and put outlines on all the color-blend object steps. In case y'all are interested: The color blends without outlines are fountain fills - blended colors, rather than a series of stepped objects.
So when are you going to build those in 3d graphics so we can get some physical models printable out of them?
Yeah well first I'd have to HAVE a 3D program, then I'd have to LEARN the 3D program... I've HAD 3D programs in the past, on my ol' Amiga computers. Can't really afford a decent one these days. I have Bryce for doing scenery. I have 3DS Max at work, but that's at work, and I still haven't had time to learn anything but basic modeling.
So I have a request. I don't know if you do requests. You probably don't. You probably have a whole book of ideas you've already had that are waiting patiently in line to get built. But if you do requests, I've got one: A Galaxy-class ship designed to have no glow-y bits. As in, all the glow-y bits on a normal Galaxy-class are covered with grilles that let the stuff out that has to get out for those bits to work, but that block light from being emitted from 'em. Sorta like, "We want to still be able to go to warp and not get space particles drilling holes through the ship -- but we don't want to advertise to everybody including the Pakleds just where to shoot at us to make the biggest "boom"."
Okay, how about a revision to the request -- a ship with the scale and general lines of the Galaxy, but executed with TOS details. For example, it'd probably have more angled nacelle pylons leading to a pair of nacelles on each pylon bundled in a larger housing holding both.
USS Val'Walo, kitbashed from a fuckin Gundam: (lower view with saucer separated and foreground engine removed to show hull) The model: http://www.inpayne.com/models/kitbash/trekpage_valwalo.html
Forbin, question of curiosity, how do you do those beauty space shots of the kitbashes that you put in picture threads and on FB?
You can also find them here: http://www.inpayne.com/models/kitbash/trekpage.html And they're available as wallpapers: http://www.inpayne.com/models/wallpapers/kitbash-wallpapers.html It's just basic Photoshoppery (except I use Corel PhotoPaint). Take a picture of the model, cut out the background, paste it into a space photo, and paint in the lights and special effects. Sometimes I make the backgrounds in a 3D program or a PS filter.
