Oh, and every single one of us remembers how upset you were about Hillary and her emails and how there needed to be another civil war over it. You tired partisan hack.
I got yer "tipping point" hangin' Did so many people flip out and overreact and do their Chicken Little thing in years past when an unpopular president got elected? Now that we have the internet with forum boards, social media, twitter, youtube, etc.etc. it puts everyone's views under the microscope I guess but damn...chill the fuck out everybody!
At an average small town American high school in 2018, a group of white students gleefully perform the Heil Hitler salute: And here's a surprise: https://www.independent.co.uk/news/...ior-prom-students-sieg-heil-a8630181.html?amp
I went to a rural high school in the mid 80s for a year where the italian kid (all one of him out of some 1200 students) was still treated as kinda foreign. Our teams were the Rebels and for some reason we even had a confederate flag bearing mascot. If a school team or class had pulled this in a photo not only would it have never seen teh light of day, there'd likely have been suspensions.
I can't look inside their souls. I can only go by the photographic evidence. For whatever reason they decided to perform a Nazi gesture on camera, and had a great time doing it. Something tells me it wasn't motivated by their staunch opposition to fascism.
What's funny about it? No, but I don't think his costume was funny either. The burden was on him to come forward to explain himself and admit he made a mistake. If one or more of these students wanted to do the same, I'd be willing to listen.
So you admit that someone can dress like a Nazi and not be one. By that logic, you can make a Nazi salute and not be a Nazi.
At the very least they thought posing as Nazis would somehow be funny. I don't take much comfort in that. All part of the "long process of normalizing and accommodating hatred." https://mobile.twitter.com/AuschwitzMuseum/status/1061936276402782209
If you scroll through the comments, there's one person who says the photographer told them to do the sign.
Sure chup, keep kidding yourself that you have some point to make and that you don't sound demented. Enforcing borders is just like breaking windows and rounding up jews; beatings, murders, imprisonment. You sound stupider than a Trump to any but your fellow dimwitted partisan haters. Plus, it's actually the Left using nazi-like tactics, quite evident to anyone in the US that sees reality with their eyes open.
You seem to be in the wrong thread. Maybe the wrong forum, even the wrong board. Lonely now that Gab's defunct?
I attribute it to time and memory. My grandfathers were 15 and 14 when WWII ended. Their older brothers, my great uncles, fought in WWII. As an avid reader and admittedly extremely amateur historian, I have a sliver of knowledge about how horrific the world was during those years. These kids parents were born in the early to mid 1980's. The kids have no frame of reference to understand just how bad what they're doing is. In relative terms, they look at WWII like I look at the Mongol conquests of the Middle East and Eastern Europe.
it's not so much the students. There's a lot coming out from other students now that there's a long history here with no push back from the adults in their live. No doubt the kids out to be shamed into some self examination but the administration and the parents need a much more serious come-to-Jesus moment. Also, always be THIS guy.
1) I'm not "the left". Not how you know it to be. I even called out far left politics in the opening post. 2) This thread was never about Immigration. In fact I set up a separate thread on Trump's assault on the Refugee Convention for precisely this reason. 3) As a Jew, among other things, I have concerns because I have seen the cost of hate that comes from populism, nationalism and political extremes. That is the motivation behind this thread as I, along with others here and others I know personally, are potential targets of that hate. For these three reasons, you have demonstrated yourself to be a total an absolute moron who couldn't even articulate the opening post.
That can't be. @oldfella1962 has informed me, with his vast experience, that there is no emboldening of extremists in American right now.
They are elder teenagers. Are you honestly, honestly saying that no one of them knew what the salute signified? Effing seriously? This sort of excuse making, for the sake of your tribalism, is alarming. Never did I think I would see a 21st Century America where masses of people were giving a pass to or otherwise tolerating Nazi behaving. I don't give a fuck whether or not they're card carrying neo-nazis. The salute in of itself is not a laughing matter.
And then there's this.... https://nypost.com/2018/11/09/neigh...medium=site buttons&utm_campaign=site buttons
There is some truth to this, in that historical ignorance is definitely a factor. But there is more going on here. Racist extremist groups have been making a concerted effort to get their message out to white youth. Not necessarily direct recruiting, but seeding the ground to make their ideas seem normal and mainstream. Part of that is treating it as a bit of harmless fun, as these students were doing. It helps them that authority figures and bystanders are so quick to dismiss it and sweep everything under the rug. "Can't happen here!" is the surest way to see that it will happen.
Agreed and I also attribute it to stupidity. Yes I understand they might not understand just how fucked up the Nazis were but they should know enough to know that hand gesture is a no-no. Certainly the adults that were there, and there are a ton of them in the other pictures of that day, should have known better.
What this thread demonstrates is that the morons tossing around the term "fascist" don't understand what it means. Seems to me that if a real fascist regime bent on destroying individual rights and civil liberties were to attempt to take power, the first thing it would do is declare a national emergency and suspend 2nd amendment rights. It would then institute a mass firearm confiscation program. That's play #1 for any would-be despot - disarm the populace. I don't see Trump doing that. As for the high school kids doing the stupid salute.....Dems and their libtard allies have to perpetuate the threat of imminent white supremacist takeover in order to maintain a sense of urgency. So things like this, which are really just isolated, local stories, get hyped up by spin-doctors and partisan operatives into a national epidemic.
