Disney Chairman fires warning shot.

During Disney's second quarter earnings callon Wednesday, CEO Bob Iger threw the latest punch, making a seeming threat to the state and its leader.

"One question: Does the state want us to invest more, employ more people, and pay more taxes — or not?" he asked.

"We've built a business that employs, as we've said before, over 75,000 people and attracts tens of millions of people to the state," Iger said.

He added that that Disney is "the largest taxpayer in Central Florida," paying over $1.1 billion in state and local taxes last year.

My only question is, what took them so long?

Iger may regret giving out that dollar amount. If I was the head of a big tech firm that had substantial operations in a state and we were paying less in taxes than Disney, I’d be nervous that mine were about to go up.

Maybe they'll ruin each other. Orlando residents tend to forget that if it weren't for Disney they'd still be nothing but cow pastures and orange groves. Central Florida's central inland region has nothing going for it...although it might good for trailer parks in the style of Zephyrhills or maybe The Villages.
