I think it's just a rumor, and I think D'onofrio is (understandably) stoking the flames of it. I'd love for it to be true; I really loved Netflix Daredevil's take on the Kingpin.
That Captain Marvel is called Shazam now to avoid confusion. Marvel's Captain Marvel is formerly Ms. Marvel, and a Muslim teenager is the new Ms. Marvel.
I haven't read Dr. Strange, I only know him from the 90s Spider-Man cartoon, but I've seen people on YouTube and such saying that this might be Marvel's first flop. They said that about Ant-Man and GotG too.
I got gifted a graphic novel of the first 6 issues back when GNs came in paperback novel size, I was about 5 when I got it, and 7 when I was literate enough to read it, and I wanted it to be a movie then. I've known it was movie worthy for a LONG time.
Yeah, if Strange is done properly - and so far it looks like it has been - it will be the trippiest thing anyone has seen since the stargate in 2001: A Space Odyssey.
Based on Marvel's track record and the quality of the trailers, it seems all but impossible Dr. Strange will be a dud. Marvel's weakest films--The Incredible Hulk and Thor: The Dark World IMHO--have still managed to be decent and profitable. Marvel would *really* have to fumble to get DS to bomb.
I'm looking forward to Doctor Strange and Black Panther more than Spider-Man to be honest. There have been plenty of Spider-Man movies and animated series. It's been done and been done well already. I'm more interested in learning about some of these other characters.
It depends on how much plot Doctor Strange has, but I expect it to be fun, visually so if nothing else. Probably every movie that isn't Avengers or a big-name character is going to be "Marvel's first big flop??" from here on out. It's really impressive how they've kept a streak going for this long.
Even the weak ones are redeemed by their sequels, and Marvel gets to say "I meant to do that ", and you can't 100% say it's a lie. "Captain America: The First Avenger", was all right, but then it's followed by "Winter Soldier", and "Civil War". The Thors have been ehhhh, but you watch, "Ragnarok", will be Thor's "Winter Soldier". And Hulk's. "Ragnarok", is "Planet Hulk", in disguise to loophole around Universal.
Okay, "Infinity War Part I", and "Infinity War Part II", were going to be renamed something else. Now, we get official word, "Infinity Wart Part I", is just "Infinity War", and "Infinity War Part II", is....nothing. No title yet for that one.
Well that's as clear as mud. Is it a two-parter about the Infinity Stones? Or does Infinity War tie that one up and is...The One After Infinity...about something new?
Disney / Marvel has confirmed / clarified that Avengers 3 will be "Infinity War", it will be "one and done". There will be an Avengers 4, but it won't be "Infinity War 2", it will be completely different.
