Oh goody, a series based on C list heroes that only comic nerds will care about. I would lay odds the only hero heard of by most in that list is Daredevil and he has been forever tainted by Ben AHHH_FLAAAK.

Screw Defenders, I wanna see the Thunderbolts!

The current all-star lineup of Thunderbolts is Punisher, Deadpool, Elektra, Venom, and Red Hulk (this could be regular Hulk for an adaptation).

    Now THAT'S a fuckin' team! :polarslam2:

Daredevil = blind lawyer, mildly interesting premise
/me does indeed have to look up the others
Jessica Jones = private eye with flight and strength, could be some synergy with the lawyer there
Iron FIst = martial artist with supernatural ties or something
Luke Cage = tough, strong guy who likes money or something

Yeah, the characters are not going to carry this one.

The current Daredevil comic written by Mark Waid won the Eisner award last year, it's quality.

That being said, for some reason I've just never been able to get interested in the character or his stories. Perhaps it's the idea that a practicing attorney could have the time to swing around playing superhero - when does he make the time to do research, write briefs, and attend hearings? I would imagine Matt Murdock is asking for a lot of continuances.

Luke Cage has gotten a lot of love from Marvel, especially Brian Michael Bendis, over the past few years. The character headlined Bendis's New Avengers and is currently headlining the new Mighty Avengers series. He's been made one of the most powerful characters in the Marvel universe - it was established in Age of Ultron that he could survive a nuclear blast (he was fucked up and died a few weeks later, but he wasn't immediately killed). Oh, and he & Jessica Jones are married and have a kid in the comics.

Waid's current Daredevil run is quite amazing.

Even more amazingly, the best current Marvel series is Matt Fraction's Hawkeye, which really has to be seen to be believed.

I'm in. I've always liked Daredevil, Luke Cage and Iron Fist. I don't know Jessica Jones.

If the quality of agents of shield is any indication, all of these new shows are gonna suck ass. A show about Jessica Jones? Who the hell outside of the most nerdly marvel wonk has any idea who she is?

Who has any idea who any television character is before the show has a few episodes under its belt? Before Star Trek premiered, would you have known who "Mister Spock" was? The source material is solid. Assuming the production staff are competent (a big assumption in TV, I know) it could be great.

Have to admit that being reminded of SHIELD makes me question my previous hope for these series, not to mention my will to live.

ponder: if ABC cancels AoS..does it not make sense for Netflix to keep it in production?

    Yup.
    Disney owns the network.
What they lose in ratings, they make up for in a free* MCU infomercial every week.
And that's if the show were irredeemable, but I hear it's finding its legs.

*Well, not free, but you know, they get that as a bonus.

It's gotten orders of magnitude better in the second half of the season.

The crossover stuff with Captain America has been amazing. As far as I know, this is the first time a TV show and movie have affected each other in what is basically real time. The big "stuff" that happened in CA directly impacted the show the following week and made it change direction.

Yes, it's getting better for now. It also has relatively good ratings. Expect it to be picked up.

So does it pay to pick up from where I left off and watch the rest of the season? I think I stopped watching about four episodes in.

Skip everything right up to "The End of the Beginning". If you're feeling really forgiving, you might want to watch "TAHITI" first. but it isn't painless.

The funniest thing about TWS is...you could have removed the actual TWS character and changed very little about the story.
