I've been avoiding all DC and Marvel shows other than Gotham because there's so many other shows, it's hard to keep up. That being said, this looks badass!
Just saw "Inhumans", via on demand. Missed it first run, forgot it was on. Wheeeellll...... It's not horrible. Critics act like it killed their granny. It's not kill your granny bad, but it's not good. Put it this way, if you sent this back to 1999, it would cut the mustard, but it really is a step back from what we're accustomed to from the MCU. It's cheap, it's clearly an Agents Of Shield spinoff, and it sure as Hell didn't deserve to be a theatrical release that people had to pay for. I'll put stuff that'll piss you off in spoilers... I didn't hate it, but I can totally understand how one could. This should have been a real movie with MCU money, or they shouldn't have bothered. But Perlmutter put all that buildup to Inhumans in Shield, so he went all Captain Ahab on his precious goal. Gotta learn when to let it go, man...
Whoops, sorry, Runaways connects to Netflix-verse. Gifted is X-Men. But it's self-contained, like Legion. So many damned shows to keep track of.
The Collider guys have seen the first 6 episodes of Punisher, and they're saying it just might be even better than Daredevil Season 2.
Yep, Punisher is the best Marvel/Netflix show, and the best Punisher show/movie. Hands down, no nitpicking, quibbling, or grey area. Boom.
Ok... I am five episodes deep and although I love Jon Bernthal as the Punisher, I am not 100% sold on the direction it's going. It's not at all meeting the hype. Does it get amped up as we go along?
From about episode 7 onward it never stops. The end of episode 12 will have you going "ohhh shiiitt!! Ohhhh shiiiit!!".
yeah. I hadn't picked up a punisher comic in 20 years so the name "Billy Russo" was familiar, but I couldn't recall why. Then there was that bit with the mirror in the final fight and I realized it was his origin story all along.
Oh.. and the coolest bit of serendipity happened. Castle Frank, a station on the Toronto Transit Commission’s Bloor subway line is currently displaying a unique – and savvy – bit of PR for Netflix’s latest comic-book-based superhero show. The station’s platform posters currently featuring advertising for The Punisher, a spinoff of Marvel’s Daredevil, featuring the popular vigilante character first introduced in a 1974 issue of The Amazing Spider-Man. The Punisher is a war vet who fights crime on the streets of New York, and whose real name is Frank Castle. Toronto’s Castle Frank is named for a plat of land purchased in 1793 by John Graves Simcoe, the first lieutenant-governor of Upper Canada (now Ontario), for his son, Francis. The Punisher debuts on Nov. 17.
On to episode 9 of the Punisher today, and it really is the best of the shows so far. Quite impressed how they've treated things like gun ownership in such an adult way, everything is well written and debated without any preaching. Castle isn't particularly portrayed as a hero, just someone very, very damaged and with no way back to normal life any more. I was concerned how they'd play Micro, but yeah, done really well.
Just finished Jessica Jones 2!! Loved it!! I think I'll rank it.... 1. Punisher 2. Daredevil season 2 3. Jessica Jones season 1 4. Daredevil season 1 5. Jessica Jones season 2 6. Luke Cage 7. Defenders 8. Iron Fist This season was more morally grey, with no clear big-bad like Killgrave. You're either gonna love that, or hate that. I think opinions will be divided.
mmm it's 8 episodes, right? The wife and I couldn't make it past 3. snooze. Without David Tennant, she's just a whiny bitch. So it gets better?
