please provide proof that if Hillary been elected in 2016 the same number of American wouldn't have died. Who knows, maybe more may have died! Who really knows?

Your dude actively fought against dealing with Covid-19 while it was manageable and insisted it would just go away. You really think that a policy wonk like Hillary Clinton would have done the same?

Has it escaped your notice that the U.S. had roughly four times the death rate of any other wealthy industrialized nation?

You don't think that had anything to do with a president who had a cultlike hold over somewhere between 25 and 35 percent of the population starting out with denial, then undermining public health measures every chance he got?

Remember that brief moment when Trump actually did endorse mask wearing -- after months of ridiculing people for doing it -- because somebody on the overgrown toddler's staff managed to convince him that it made him look like the Lone Ranger?

Hard to imagine Hillary Clinton being that juvenile.

It's a reasonable assumption, but that's not proof for someone who dismisses any criticism of Fearless Leader as TDS. :spock:

Donald Trump was simply not fit for office.

I seriously doubt Hillary would have made it political and cried about some boogeyman trying to ruin her chances of re-election.

And now we have to deal with that same 25 to 35 percent refusing to get vaccinated because their guy lost the election and they are still having a hissy fit. Talk about a huge national security issue. China, Russia, and every bad actor out there is taking notice at how easily our country can fall to disinformation.

Losing only one person to flu during the flu season seems proof enough that the prevention methods Trump fought against, and induced millions of Americans to fight against as well, worked to prevent deaths from communicable diseases such as flu and Covid. Hillary, or probably most/any of the other Republican candidates, wouldn't have fought against the preventative methods (at least, not as much) and thereby reduced their adoption and therefore their effectiveness at preventing deaths. Ergo, deaths that could have been prevented were not prevented because of Trump's behavior.

Now, if Hillary had said "wear masks", the crazies like Alex Jones might have immediately said "don't do whatever the thing is she tells you to do", but a) that's not her fault and b) probably their reach would be less in a world where the president doesn't encourage his supporters to dismiss everything they don't like as "fake news".

Even beyond the obtuse lashing onto anti-masking political themes (Liberate Michigan, he tweeted, when MI militia members were planning on taking the governor hostage for masks), is Clinton was in office the fucking POLICY would have been right.

We wouldn't have disbanded the Global Pandemic Task Force, firing the general in charge and breaking up the others into bio-terrorism groups.

We wouldn't have gotten rid of 2/3rds of the CDC staff located in China because we knew it was likely the next pandemic would come out of that region. Scientists were writing about the potential for a cross species jump from bats to humans due to Chinese wet markets selling bats for eating in 2004.

We would have followed the Obama admin playbook on pandemics.

We sure as hell would have had people in office who knew about it, because one of the 3 security briefings that the Clinton as Sec of State made sure was in the transition was HOW TO DEAL WITH A SARS-COVID OUTBREAK.

It just staggers the imagination that people are this fucking ignorant.

Well, let's see. The CDC put the death toll in the first year of the H2N2 pandemic in the US at 33,000. The population was 200 million. So Forbin is bad at math, or a lying sack of shit, take your pick.

Push that back to at least 5 years.

Why even in 2016 there were many talking about how a Clinton presidency would be as much of a disaster as a Trump one.

I wonder what all those unnecessary US victims of the pandemic died of in the Clinton timeline.

Even if that were true, you'd think "worse than any flu season in 50 years" would be noteworthy.

You make that assumption based on frontline having a functioning brain, and not one completely destroyed by decades of conservative propaganda. (see also @oldfella1962)

I think about the SNL Al Gore cold open far too much. Don't know where the video exists, but it's this one: https://www.nbc.com/saturday-night-live/video/gore-state-of-the-union/n12044
