Meet Spider-Woman. https://variety.com/2023/tv/feature...sie-reality-white-lotus-interview-1235688915/
*Googles around* So, the character is Julia Carpenter, the redhead with the black suit who was in "Secret Wars" and who's a background character in "Across The Spider-Verse".
Just finished "Guardians Of The Galaxy Volume 3". Jesus H. Christ! That was like going to a funeral for Mister Rogers in a parallel universe where he was killed by Leatherface!! Is James Gunn okay?? Did he go off his meds? What the holy flaming fuck was that?!?!?!
I think Alpha was a fan of this actress...haven't seen either Euphoria or White Lotus but I have at least two big reasons to now. To see if they are as good as the hype, and to see if she will do the character of Julia Carpenter justice.
Every GotG movie has that sadness aspect of it - Quill’s mom in the first, death of Yondu in the second and Gunn has a way of making you feel it I thought it was great and would say that this trilogy is a top 3 trilogy all time in sci fi
I mean... For all the shit people give The Force Awakens, Lucas was already repackaging elements of A New Hope in Return of the Jedi.
Well, you know, if you start your series with a planet-destroying uber-weapon, it's a little hard to top that. Sure, you can blow up the star in the system (or vacuum it up as an energy source), but so what? If you have the kind of tech necessary to travel across the galaxy in a short period of time, you have the tech to evacuate your planet in such a situation (Assuming the Empire didn't blow it up first. But if you blew it up, then why take out the star?), or survive until you can move your planet somewhere else, or even make a new star.
I mean, a top 3 trilogy would leave room for the original trilogy, this, and I'm not sure what are the best contenders for the third. Most sci-fi trilogies have a stinker, or at least a mediocre movie in there. (Not that I would necessarily cement GotG as top 3, just that it's a possibility.). The Nolan Batman trilogy, if that is "sci-fi" enough, probably. And sorry, FF, Back to the Future is not a particularly great trilogy. Too repetitive.
"Multiverse" and "No Way Home" were supposed to come out in reverse order, and America Chavez was supposed to be the porthole opener for the alter-Spideys instead of Ned. https://www.darkhorizons.com/strange-sequel-ditched-a-spider-man-cameo/
Dead Pool 3 will reportedly feature both Logan and Harry Potter. Wonder how they worked out those rights issues?
I finally watched Guardians 3, what a nice send off. These three movies are the best trilogy of the MCU other than Captain America's three movies. I'm glad everyone survived, I was worried about Rocket and for a second there, Peter. I laughed out loud a lot in this one, but I didn't feel like it was too jokey. All of the emotional beats landed pretty well and it was nice seeing Rocket's background. I'm glad they didn't just have Gamora and Peter's relationship go back to what it was and I like how Peter summed up the Infinity War/ End Game. I also like how Nebula called him out on leaving out key details. This movie plus Far From Home kind of feels like a coda to the Infinity saga while the rest of the movies and TV shows after Endgame feels like the world has kind of moved on from Endgame. I guess that kind is the point, but it still feels rudderless and I'm sort of over the MCU now. This was a nice send off and I'm sad to see them go, but I'm glad it ended well and hopefully Dysney will leave it be.
