Man, I sure am glad that the recent change put an end to all the rep whining!

It's a good idea. Now no one will be bullied. Set it all to max green! Everyone should be max green! Then we'll still be able to use the utility aspect of rep - giving comments on posts without hitting reply.

That's exactly what happened and one of the many reasons that I object to the change.

Those of us who had been here a long time and positively contributed to the board and did so to maintain, not just good rep, but a good reputation, were satisfied with the rep system and wanted it left alone. It was those 4 or 5 people who are generally pissing all over the board in the first place and didn't care about rep that wanted it changed.

And all this talk about "bullying" is a bunch of bullshit. Apostle is deep in the red. Was he getting "bullied"? Was TheLonelySquire getting "bullied"?

Interesting that many of the same people who felt sorry for actormike were the very posters who repped apostle and TLS into the red.

There's certainly fewer people whining about it.

As it was, the old rep system was in a way unfair.

People who were in the negative scores could only leave a "comments". I thought this was fixxed in the past with a hack so they could post "agrees" and "disagrees" too? (Someone said I am remembering wrong, but I still think this was already solved, because only recently did I see a "comments" again.)

I think the rep game was much more fun when you were able to subtract points from it, but really, there were so many people who had 10,000+ rep that it became meaningless.

The best idea was Ramen's idea, where everyone's rep was reset every year, and then for those who wanted to play the game, they could all start from scratch and rep war or rep wank their way to the top. But still, that wouldn't solve the problem for those wanting to leave an "agrees" or "disagrees" from getting the function taken away due to rep war.

I agree that the handling of this function has really been a clusterfuck however. Really par for course in a Lanzman administration.

You say that as if Lanz has a habit of turning things upside down just for lulz. I think this rep issue is an unnecessary clusterfuck, but running the guy down like this seems a bit unfair, IMO. And the White Room was removed because of something to do with his job IIRC, so we won't bee seeing that unless someone wants to pony up the money to pay for the server every year.

Lanz removing the White Room is an atrocity literally on par with the Holocaust and the primetime television show Glee.

Until you're able to accept that this is an issue because many of us don't want to see WF start sliding into another TNZ, I don't see how you can be part of any honest discussion on the subject.

Understand this; regardless of what happens, I'm out of the rep game. Negative 2.1 billion. I agreed to max neg to prove the point that with or without rep, I'm not going to change, I'm not going to censor myself according to anyone's expectations and I'm not going to leave. So please, tell me again how important rep is to me.

I'm not doing this for myself, I'm doing it because it is unnecessary, pointless and doesn't 'improve' anything here. That and the fact that there are people that enjoy the game and they should be able to continue to enjoy it. It has always been a part of Wordforge tradition. I despise any misguided attempt at providing some sort of silly fairness ( ) for people who can dish it out but can't take it.

Not everybody wants to debate the same things we've been debating for 8 years over and over and over again.

But, as we've found out, they can't even pull of a reset. And I don't want to hear this 'using the rep system as it was meant to be - a comment system' shit anymore. It did that before this. My rep use to be 'Sokar Comments' and now all I can do is disagree. And even without any points associated with it, the same damn people throw fits when you neg them.

At this point I think I'll sell the board back to Elwood in November just so I don't have to hear $corp whining any more.
